Ok lets here it, how does a Jonsered compair to a Stihl or husky

I fancied myself a Stihl kind of person at first, until I got a hold of the old mans Jonsered. My third saw will most likely be a Husqvarna. My Stihl is a small clamshell design, good for the easy stuff. The Jonsered feels a lot better, you can really tell how well made it is from just handling...

    Where is SawTroll?

Done that too! Welcome back, although in all honesty I didn't notice you were away. BTW, they were asking for you in the "got a partner from denmark" thread. No rest for the wicked, huh?

could a falty coil cause surging?

I have too little experience to say anything for sure, but to me it sounds fuel related. From working on other engines, I'd say the carb isn't keeping up at WOT. Again, this is just a semi-educated guess.

    Where is SawTroll?

I got a "merry christmas" message not too long ago, he's probably just having some time off with the family. Sorry to say I haven't been on here enough lately myself to miss him, I'm sure he's fine.

    Chinese chainsaw repair attempt

Sorry for being unclear, I meant the covers on the saw itself. I saw the broken plastic piece. I don't remember seeing your old post, did it have pictures?

What a monster! I'd love to own one some day, but I doubt I'd be able to use it...

    Chinese chainsaw repair attempt

Even the Swedish Chainsaw Mafia would understand that one. Not that I would know... EDIT: If you showed some pics of the plastic, maybe it would be easier to identify the model it was copied from? I have some Husky/Jonsered IPLs, SawTroll seems to have them all.

Looking at a new, used saw...

Even more good info! I hate to disappoint you guys, but seems im out of luck - the saw is gone. Seller never even had time to answer me. I even had the small toolbox packed to go see it. I may as well confess the saw was an old 242XP, didn't want to say that before because I know some people...

Looking at a new, used saw...

That is, more or less, what I'm hoping for, but I am trying my hardest to be realistic...

Looking at a new, used saw...

More useful info! I feel I can comfortably disassemble and reassemble a saw, have workshop manual for this model Husqvarna (thanks to ST!!!) and pretty much all the tools I need. The saw is listed as in "like new" condition, so I'm looking for this to be a runner. I'll change the bar and...

Looking at a new, used saw...

Good advice from both! I have emailed the seller saying I'm thinking about the saw, and asked if I can take the muffler off to look at the piston. If he doesn't go for that, well, no sale. I would probably have forgot to bring the compression tester without the reminder, big thanks! The...

Looking at a new, used saw...

This has probably been discussed before on this forum, but I am in the process of getting my first new-but-used saw. I have two questions for those of you who are already done with your holiday shopping. I am searching the forum for information, but while I do that I'd like to hear some...

    Tools New drill

Well, for professional use, I'd always say Hilti or Makita, but I do confess a secret lust for those big, red Milwaukees... I wonder why? My sister has one, and when she doesn't use it someone else always needs to borrow it. Talk about getting some use out of a tool!

    NOT another stupid J-Red question...

You are right, of course. Silly me. I'll do it as soon as I get a chance. Thank you!
