    Favorite Firewood

Black Locust Ash Cherry The Black Locust may be the "perfect" firewood, with easy splitting, dries rather quickly for such an incredibly hard wood, will keep for many years without rotting, excellent heat output with long burn times and not much ash left in the stove. Very tough on chains when...

    Dead Locust

If you cut that locust when it's relatively young and still alive, that bark will stay on those posts for many, many years!

    Dolmar PS352

I've had a terrible time with my Dolmar PS 350, very hard starting, hard to keep running, not very powerful, had problems with it ever since I bought it, wished I never bought it, don't even take it with me anymore when I go to cut wood. Just my .02.

    Tree ID

I've never seen any Black Locust around here (Western Md & Eastern WV) with leaves like that, the bark looks kinda similar, but something about the shape of the trunk & the bark makes me think it's not BL. Just my .2

    Drolet HT2000

Don't have that model, but have had a Drolet Savannah stove since 2009, their quality is excellent, very happy with my decision to go with Drolet.

So I sold my MS290 on eBay....

No offence, but do you usually leave a chainsaw presumably filled with gasoline & oil that close to a fire??

    Wood ID

IMHO Black Locust interior wood is yellow in color and the bark has longer, deeper grooves, at least that's what the Locust we have in WV looks like.

    Wood ID

My vote would be some kind of Walnut also. That definitely doesn't look like Black Locust inside or out.

    This weekends loads, pic heavy

Very nice score on all that wood! What do you use to do your splitting?

Taking down a large lawn Oak

Nice job! That is a lot of NICE firewood for next year or year after. Is that a Can Am atv you got there?

    Tree ID pls

I know there are variations on all tree species, especially depending on location, but the bark in both pictures doesn't look like any Hackberry i have seen in central Maryland, also the center of the wood usually has a reddish color, then white as you go out towards the bark.
