    Saw Troll?

He’s not the first good guy that was run off by the trolls. I remember Lakeside Andy from 20+ years ago. He was great and full of knowledge. His tread on Stihl 056 rebuild was the textbook on the subject. He finally got tired of the drama. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

if you could only have one saw

My MS462 would be it. Can run a 20” to 28” bar, reasonably light and very capable saw. In the last 40+ years of buying and using saws, the 462 is the best I’ve run Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    MS361 Bar and Chain Question...

I bought a new 361 in 2005. It had a 20” on it and was great. Several years later I bought a 20” MS362. I then put a 18” on the 361 with a 8 pin sprocket. It’s very impressive limbing and smaller diameter wood. Really slings the chips! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Any Gen-X’ers heating with wood?

1957 vintage here so I’m an old broken down old man. Been burning wood since 2000. But as I get older I tend to work smarter not harder. Good sharp saws, Kubota tractor with pallet forks and industrial wire baskets to take the splits from the splitter and move wherever I want. Still love the...

How many of you are running Stihl

Lot of haters out there on the 441. I had a carb version and latter a M Tronic. I thought the were fine saws. Smooth and powerful. I sold the M Tronic and bought a 462. I’ve had lots of Stihl saws in the last 40+ years but the 462 is the best I’ve had. I’ve never run a 500 so I’m not going to...

    stihl 361 muffler

Sorry for your issue but glad to hear it’s been a good saw for you. I bought one in 2005 and after I got a 362 I put a 8 pin sprocket on it with a 18” bar. It has a opened up muffler. She’s a screamer for sure! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    I got the ms500i R

I got my 462 with a 25” but soon put my 28” on it. It runs the 28” with authority! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Barn Find Stihl 031 AV

I’ve changed a few down through the years. If you plan on really using the saw I would change them while your going over the saw. If I remember correctly those old horizontal cylinder saws aren’t the easiest to work on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

462 Will modding oil flow void warranty?

I pushed in the roll pin and set the oiler to MAX and it does fine on a 28” bar Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Barn Find Stihl 031 AV

My great uncle bought one new in 1975 or 1976. I ran that saw for many years until it was stolen from my garage. They are a very solid saw, a little heavy for their power but smooth to run. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looking for engine to replace Kohler SH265 on Dirty Hand Tools 25 ton log splitter

Well a Predator might be a good option. Catch them on sale and buy the warranty. I’ve heard that if they start and run for 30 minutes or so your in good shape. Your money, your choice Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looking for engine to replace Kohler SH265 on Dirty Hand Tools 25 ton log splitter

Small Engine Warehouse in Indiana seems to have a great supply of all brands of engines and a knowledgeable staff. I purchased a GX270 Honda this year to replace the 29 year old Kohler M8T in my Troy Bilt Horse tiller. Easy repower, love the smooth Honda power Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Getting to be that time again.

I’m ready. I try to stay a year ahead and I feel very confident I’m at that point. I put my splits in wire industrial baskets 40”x48x48” that I can move with my tractor and pallet forks. I have mostly oak that’s ready to go for this winter Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

462s not holding up, carefull commercial users

In the past 50 years or so I’ve bought and ran lots of saws of all brands. I purchased a new NS462RCM last September and had a big oak job in October. I was amazed at the power/weight ratio on it new out of the box. I was and am impressed with the 462. Just my experience with my saw Sent from...
