Napolean's new 1450 Pedastal wood stove- No ash pan...

I usually just let the fire burn down a bit and before adding more wood i scoop out the excess ash when needed, which is usually only once a day. I don't have a whole lot of ash to deal with. And yes, you have to rake the ash over into a 4" square hole into the ash pan. And the little door...

Napolean's new 1450 Pedastal wood stove- No ash pan...

I have the model 1400 pedestal stove with the ash pan. I hardly ever use it myself. I just scoop them out into a bucket. It just seems easier than trying to rake the ashes over into the little hole in the bottom when you have a fire going. Anyway that's just my 2 cents.

    Need some advice

Hey there. If you're going to be cutting lots of dead oak i would suggest using semi chisel chain. It will stay sharp longer and is easy to sharpen.

    Price

I would think $100 would be a pretty optimistic price for a tree service to do it even though it is already down. fuel for the truck and chipper would cost that much. I'm betting it would be more like several hundred dollars.

Oklahoma Storm, Do They Need Help??

Conditions here in the Oklahoma city area are much improved as far as the clean up goes. I am about 30 miles north of O.K.C. There have been tree services working day in & day out cleaning up the mess. I know the Tulsa area was hit pretty hard by the ice storm too but i haven't been up there to...

    Eye Protection

LOL!! +1 on accidentally spitting on the mesh shield. I hate it when i do that!

    Eye Protection

If you're looking for just eye protection while using a saw the Bugz eyes ( i think that's what they call'em) should work good. I haven't tried them yet but they are just safety glasses with mesh lenses, so no fogging!
