You lost 2 years growth on a 50 year tree Cut back all the dead wood now to live tissue, monitor soil moisture during the summer(use your finger, don't guess) You have plenty of years left to get some new growth. Pay an arborist or nurseryman(someone who grows trees), not a landscaper, to...

Golden Deodor Cedar with webs on the end

Check second photo background It looks like you are talking about an inch caliper transplant that has thick turf growing right up around the trunk...a recipe for disaster for the trees. Why aren't there mulch areas around the base to prevent mower injury, stray weed wacker damage, excess lawn...

    Wounds on a red maple

Doc Shigo says... Wounds don't heal, they compartmentalize and the new cambium eventually covers, just like a pruning cut on an older tree. Think of it as a "bruise" like smacking your leg with a hammer and under the skin dies. Eventually the skin wears away. I would guess one "old bruise"...

    Leyland Cypress HELP PLEASE

no Like most conifers the needles/foliage doesn't remain attached and green forever. Think white pines later this season, or hollies right now. Increase the mulch area at the base to keep the mower and weed wacker away. The tips are where brown or yellow foliage will indicate a problem.

    Rating Hazard Trees

Has your class been introduced to the resistograph tool. That would allow you to examine the extent of decay coming down the trunk column. Minor MP1" pruning on the canopy Radial Mulching of the CRZ with an air spade followed with a mulch 4" deep under the CRZ will be the most beneficial to...
