Stihl MS 170 bogging down, no power

I'm really not sure if that is so, or not. I haven't had any carb problems with mine, so I don't even know if the jet is removable. It just came up in conversation with him. I would really like to know if that is true. Edit: The ipl does show fixed jet 0.45 part#1130-121-5604 and high altitude...

Stihl MS 170 bogging down, no power

Don't get too worried yet, as there may be a pretty good chance that it will work right off the bat. And even if you do have to rejet, those jets shouldn't cost too much.

Stihl MS 170 bogging down, no power

Keep in mind also that they do make different jets for these carbs. I know there is a high altitude jet and a low altitude jet. Don't know if they're others or not. My dealer and I were talking about these carbs a while back, and that's how I learned about the jets. When the saw leaves the...

That's a nice looking saw. If it runs good then I wouldn't worry about it.

Has anyone put their mixed gas in a fridge/cool place?

I wouldn't. Fridges have motors, and motors can ignite gas fumes. Also, the thermostat switch sparks when it stops and starts the fridge, and that is a big boom waiting to happen.

Cad. Are any of these worth fixing

I don't know anything about the Pioneer, and very little about the Super 2 (but I have the "XL" version), but the Mac 10-10, while not worth much money-wise, is a great old saw! Same with the EZ automatic. They really are a nice little saw! Both the Mac and the EZ were made for many years, and...

    It's pretty damn sad....................

The Stihl dealer that I go to is an Ace hardware. The owner is the head Stihl guy, and he has been very good to me. He has a nice selection, and a very good service department. When I went in looking to buy my first Stihl saw, the first thing he said was "let's take a couple out back". That sold...

Anyone have an ipl for a MS261C-Mtronic that you'd be willing to share? Thanks in advance!

    homelite super 2 oil lines

If I remember right, the line that goes to the bar outlet has a small orifice fitting in it to regulate how much oil the bar receives. Make sure that you transfer that over from your old oil line.

    Pole pruner (gas powered)

Yes sir, it fires every other rotation of the crank. I'm glad you got the link to post. That's the one I was trying to cut & paste.

    Pole pruner (gas powered)

It is actually a basic 4-stroke, just like the engine on your 4 stroke mower or in your car. It has a cam, valves, push rods and rocker arms. The difference being that the crankcase is dry, like a 2 stroke. The oil is mixed into the fuel like a 2 stroke, and the fuel/oil mix is routed through...

My next MS170 projec - advice needed for roping

Lol!!! I don't even have enough wit remaining tonight to even think up a funny answer to that one!!!

My next MS170 projec - advice needed for roping

I know everyone is having fun with him, but what happens if he does try one of these silly "suggestions", and he ends up owning your house, truck, your saws, your wife, and maybe even Arboristsite! Don't think for a minute that it can't happen, especially in a world where you can win a judgment...

Stihl 026 Pro - Not Enough Bar Oil?

I don't think that any parts have been mixed up. Op says it's a stock 026 pro, with new piston & cylinder, which the pro version comes with the adjustable oiler from the factory. To the op, I'm wondering if the oil pump bore or oiler piston isn't just worn out. That would explain both the low...

    My favorite GTG partner

Brad, my prayers are with you and your entire family through this. I know how hard it is to even think about, and how hard it is to stay positive. I lost my mom to lung cancer in 2008, and just hearing the words are terrifying. May God give him the strength to keep up the fight, and the strength...

    SLOW AS SNAIL

That's just the way it worked out. My sig has actually been a pretty good conversation starter (which I have enjoyed many times over), and it's still shorter than some of the others on here. All in all, I'm happy with it and have no intentions of changing it.
