Looks good there. Have to love the scent too for awhile anyway. My nose gets raw after a day of cutting Cedar but after a few brews back to good.

What are you building with your milled wood? merged

As for original lengths for sanders over 30 years old? None. As for guys who don't their wives handle hard woods other things shrink as well. Keep on sawin'

What are you building with your milled wood? merged

Milled five of these out of a Red Maple which let a 20" branch snap of 20' up. Figure I'd use the Rockwell 653 to do most of the bull work. Don't let your power planers and sanders heat up to melt wires.

Craftsman Roper 3.7 from the 60's

Guys, Took it complete and running but leaking fuel to a local saw shop. They said no problem. A month later they call and say they can't fix the leaking fuel line cause they can't get the clutch off. They told me it has to come this far apart to get to the line. WTF do I know? I have enough...

    Cedar cracking in one day?

Was the driveway surface hot from the day? Cedar is like a sponge. It can and will absorb moisture as well as having it sucked out. Wet it down.

    Western North Carolina Chainsaw millers

Taking my family to near Franklin in August for the eclipse. Was wondering anyone down there might have 4 or five 7" or so x 5' of anything I would slap together a rustinic pikinikinik table. I'll have my camper in tow so bringing my own is out for the weight of it. Ranger brought this log to me...

Want to go bigger...lets see your giant CSMs!

Look midway up the bar. There is a simple clamp that keeps the bar straight. Get into the cut 2"-3" then it has to be removed.

Make beam from fallen red pine

Red pine is structural and a wipe down with acetone will minimize resin somewhat. Many Mid Atlantic factories 100+ years old were built with these timbers. Beautiful wood in my book.

    Firepit bench opinions

Tung is just as good. Remember; some of the pieces we create will last centuries and some just part of a lifetime. Don't sweat it. There's still plenty of wood left last I checked. Have fun with it all. :)

    Firepit bench opinions

You could spray or roll on linseed oil in 2 or 3 liberal coats and walk away trouble free for 5 years. Then do it again. If you have air and a gun you can do that piece in 2 minutes. What touches the ground could be "spackled" with a good silicone caulk and putty knife. Bigoak, give me a call...
