    So I gotta ask....

Thanks gents. *hat tip* I'm a wee novice when it comes to commercial logging so this is all mumbo jumbo to me. I cut a lot for firewood but don't know what to call what I'm doing. Looks like I have lots of reading to do. Much appreciated!

    So I gotta ask....

Ok let me ask...... I saw a video extolling the virtues of the back cut being exactly the same height as the front. Why is that better than it being maybe 2" higher than the front?

    husqvarna 55 souped up

Coming from a history of motorcycle racing, there's "souped up" and then there's "souped up". The first, you can make an engine fast and make it last awhile too. The second, your engine's lifespan is measured in minutes. 60 to 120 minutes, it'll be a beast. At those levels you're taking the...

    Screamer or Grunter?

@wood4heat there's the thing... my background was in Honda CR500s, hence the grunt. :surprised3:

    Allow me to introduce myself...

Yep I did that last time I broke the starter rope from pulling too hard. :innocent: It was well munged up, some judicious poking got all kinds of crud out and she lives to cut another day!

    Screamer or Grunter?

I read a thread yesterday lambasting neighbors who run their saws too rich, and at partial throttle. So it made me think... I've got an 044 Magnum with skip chain and most of the time I run it like I used to run dirt bikes ... I blip the throttle enough to keep it cutting well and grunt...

    Allow me to introduce myself...

Howdy gents, sorry I've been away a couple weeks. It's been busy here in Alaska but having loads of fun. Especially the last couple weeks, the crews came through and cleared beneath the power lines up on my mountain. Bless their pea picken hearts, they cut the trees to 4' lengths...

    epic failure

I think we'll be fine... the pile's about 7' high, 5' wide and 14' long. The shed's a lot bigger than it looks. And see that bulged out door? Guess why?! :dizzy: Besides, cuttin' and splittin' can only cut into SO much of my summer! I mean there's fish to catch!
