    husqvarna 136 carb settings?

I have been afflicted by my brothers 137 this weekend. He managed to score the cylinder and I found when I tore it down that the 1/2" long green rubber hose for the impulse line was split. The new cylinder kit from eBay isn't the same so my impulse line isn't tight enough and I'm having the...

    Homelite XL2

But they are great little cheap and easy saws to work with. My 10 yr old has been learning to run a saw with one (with my help). Textron made the things for like 40 years so they are everywhere. A 14" bar and chain at Lowes is only $24 so they see a lot of dirty work. Jamie

    Look what followed me home.

Cool, I got two of the big ones and seven of the little ones. Three even run. Little ones go out every day I cut. Jamie

OT - bid sniping on eBay

As smokechase said. I've had that feeling that someone was watching the auction and pushing the price for the seller. I always watch the auction go down to 30 seconds and then bid what I want. I also watch the page hit count to see how many lurkers are out there as I watch it come down...

    Cleaning flocked Stihl filters

A ruined flocked filter looks like it has window screen for a filter material. A good one looks similiar to fuzzy saw dust (go figure) between the plastic frame. Look on ebay at 038 filters and you'll see them. BTW, the aftermarket ones suck and the choke doesn't seem to work well. Jamie

    038 Magnum normal compression numbers?

Ok, thanks for the interesting replies. I already inspected the fuel and inpluse lines and they were fine. With a new air filter and Bosch spark plug and one turn out on the jets, two pulls with full choke, it started the next pull with half choke. It does buck and spit more than I'd like...

    038 Magnum normal compression numbers?

ok, thanks, just didn't want to invest a lot of time in someones saw without getting results. The drop test worked out fine. Owner said he always had to pour gas down the carb to get it started, but three pulls with the choke set and there is fuel in the bore. Like I said the plug was...

    038 Magnum normal compression numbers?

Got one from a friend of a friend who thought the air filter was suposed to only be the wire mesh. Needless to say the sparkplug had wood dust around the insulator and it doesn't like to start cold at all. Compression barely made it to 145psi with the throttle wide open after a bunch of pulls...

    Husky 61, 75psi comp

It's not mine, looking at it for a friend at work. Has spark, low compression. I can see score marks in the bore. Should I just get the jug and piston kit or just a piston / ring assy and try to clean up the bore? Opinions and long term results needed. I may pull it down tomorow. Did...

    dont laugh at me but..............

041 for the 8-18" stuff, get the 041 super out for the bigger stuff, and a little homy xl for the limbs. Rip cutting stumps into managable chunks is the best. Jamie

    Cutting timber full of nails!

Just ruined a brand new Stihl chain on one stinking nail in the middle of a 24" chunk of locust I was rip cutting so I could handle it in the wood splitter easier. Probally knocked half the life off the chain and it'll take a few hours to get it fixed up. In your case, I'd find someone that...

    stihl dealers attitude

Same here, three close shops in town no help. Go down to the small town that I grew up in 20 miles away and their little shop with the full ine of saws and trimmers has gotten all my business, prices are even in line with online sources surprisingly. Jamie

    Homelite XL

I have one too, that had been sitting in the back of a pickup truck for two years (freeby). Even after flushing out the old gas and installing a new filter the old gas managed to clog the filter and it was doing exactly as you said. Good cutting little toy with a new bar and chain. Jamie

    Would this work?

Another suggestion is to fab and drill a peice of 1" x 1/8" plate to cover the original screw hole and epoxy it to the original casing. But as Stumper said it's not a big issue if you know how to work around it. Jamie

    Bad plastic day

Friends 350 is similiar enough that I don't like using it. Dang plastic thing. Funny as heck watching it slide off the wood piled up in the back of his truck as he was leaving the wood lot. Almost left him run over it so he could go buy a real saw... Jamie

    building a homemade tachometer ...

I think a better approach would be to use a good tach reading timing light like Snap-On's and power it off an automobile 12vdc battery. I'm just not sure how it would react to a 1 pulse to one rev count on a two stroke vs a 1 pulse per 2 rev counts at higher revs. Seems it would say the saw...

Favorite Chainsaws for Firewood Cutting and What is Your Woods Like?

Favorite has got to be my 041 super with the 27" bar. I'm 6'8" in work boots and the old Super XL with a 16" bar killed my back after an hour or two. With the 041 super it's like weilding a figgin light saber 70+cc and 27" of reach out an touch someone. Only down side is it jerks bush and...

    building wood splitter,(looking for ideas)

I've been thinking about making one for a good while, almost a firewood machine type setup with the ram mounted above the passenger side wheels of my car trailer with a removable 15' hydraulic driven pickup conveyor to lift the heavy stuff to the splitter. Then the splittings will fall into the...
