    Ticks, Here They Come Again...

Wild Leeks I just had a man in, he told me the same about eating wild leeks, the ticks won't bother you.

    Just some pics from today

She sure does, one of the good things is very few basswood came down, I'd rather work on wood we can use. The worst part is this is the start of our high wind season an with hurricane season around the corner we could have more down. I have one bigger Hemlock that is blocking the trail in that...

When I had someone ask me how's the woodlot looking (before the storm) I told them there is one tree down (it was uprooted & hung up) from the Micro Burst of 2008 that I plan on milling a nine foot section then use the rest for firewood, I should learn to keep my yap shut.

I started on this downed Cherry from Tuesdays storm, I then cleared the trail (downed small Maple & Cherry) once I made my way up I found more Sugar Maple down from the storm. I wanted to do some milling this summer but this clean up will take until the end of July if not longer.

    Storm on Tuesday

    Storm on Tuesday

The pictures in the second post are up top (good size hill) so it will need to be split up there then hauled down. My plan is to open up the blocked trails first so we can get through with the rhino. I still have some higher areas I need to check but will grab this stuff first.

    Storm on Tuesday

We had some high winds out of the northwest at about 6:30 pm, brought down enough wood that'll be busy through fall if not more. We still have more down, from sugar maple, cherry, yellow birch & red maple. I still can't get to certain parts of our property.

    Cherry Down

We did get some rain but not enough to matter, it looks like the next two days are our best chance for a good rain. I had planned on splitting more Cherry & Beech, still have a bunch by the splitter then more up front that is stacked in rounds.

    Cherry Down

System The last I checked they called for half an inch at the most for tonight, after that I'm not sure.

    Cherry Down

Rain It looks like the system that caused some flooding in the south will come in tonight, I don't think we'll get what we need but it will help out. Bone dry up here in northern NY.

    Cherry Down

This Cherry was hung up (rotten base) in a Maple but cut loose Monday or today, just more work. I took my neighbor (previous owner) up to pick some leeks, they still are smaller than usual because of the lack of rain.
