Here we go again.....Outdoor wood burners raise a stink!

I'm just glad I'm not a OWB user, beacuse your unwitting admitance of smoke as a 'payback' for a neighbor's dogs is just what some people need as proof on action needed. I think you forgot this is the world wide web. PS: please don't post any supportive posts for indoor woodstoves-we don't...

litefoot: If you have your own personal problem accepting the Japanese, then leave it at that. Welcome to 2008.

    Echo CS8000 experience

Thanks Cliff. Sounds like echo needs to update it. I guess I'll look elswhere for a larger saw than my 670.

    Echo CS8000 experience

So everyone agrees the cs8000 heavy in the cc/lb ratio. Where is the extra weight? it thicker engine casting? I may be the only one on this site, but I don't judge a machine solely on it's lb/hp spec, be it a saw, boat, snowmobile, or handtool. To me it's the sum. Anyone had any quality...

    Echo CS8000 experience

Glad you have run both. Do you think the 385 is as easy to work on and as reliable as the cs8000? If they were priced the same, which would you pick for yourself, if you didn't care about peer pressure/ridicule on internets, and you just wanted a good reliable big saw for yourself?

    Echo CS8000 experience

Can anyone with real experience ( more than 1 week ) with an Echo cs8000 give me thir opinion on this saw. I've had my CS670 for over a year and love the simplicity of design, and it always started and cut well. I was thinking of keeping some satisfaction/loyalty with them. I'm one of them that...

    New SpeeCo Splitters!

back to the splitta, saw them in person. must be Alaska design. They make you reach over the engine for the controls. helps keep you toasty.

Why do the old saws make more torque?

    Don't wanna play?

Why do the old saws make more torque?

Kevin, You seem pretty knowledgeable on engine theory, except on this point you are off base. Rod ratios do effect torque curves. Rod ratios do effect the "dwell" time of the TDC phase. It is theoretically documented, and has been test proven by many.

    Steam Turbine Plans

O.K. forget the cost, it's a hobby:) But getting a stable 60hz off an unregulated 700 rpm shaft should be interesting

    Steam Turbine Plans

$6,500 for just the piston assembly for 20hp? Say what? And then you have to add the "other" 90% of the generator? Including steam source, piping, pressure safety, GENERATOR, etc... I guess everyone has a hobby that they spill money on. Have at it.

Farmersid, it's o.k that you didn't post pic before you fixed it. Go ahead and post a close-up picture of it now that you fixed it.

What is everyone thinking about oil?

I was with you for most of it. What Northeast brown/black outs are attributed to high oil prices? That's a new one to me.

    $200 splitter I bought

Is that a Heineken valve cover breather? Cool!
