Terrible luck with keeping my chain sharp.. Darn dirt!

When I cut stuff on the ground I find a shorter bar keeps me from hitting the ground as often. Try using the shortest bar you can get away with. Might help.

MS 362- would an 18 inch bar be an improvement?

If I had to pick one bar to use on my 361 it would be the 18". I like the extra reach and it pulls it without any trouble. The 20 seems cumbersome and I rarely need a bar that long for the wood I generally cut. On the topic of weight when I switch back and forth from the 460 to the 361 the...

MS 362- would an 18 inch bar be an improvement?

I own a 361 which is very similar power to the 362. I have a 20, 18 and 16 that I swap depending on my needs. I can notice a fair difference between the three sizes.

    Would a Stihl MS 251 be a good replacement of a a Stihl 012AV?

I had a 012av, just sold it a couple of weeks ago actually. Mine stalled all the time too. It was ok in medium size wood, but a terrible limbing saw, as it didn't rev high enough. It was hard on gas too for what little power it had. I would say a new 251 would cut much better and you wouldn't...

Dual port muffler cover and carb adjustment ms 460

It does seem a bit too easy to turn. just to be safe I'm gonna put it back in.

Dual port muffler cover and carb adjustment ms 460

Yes it was difficult, but I am new at working on saws and just assumed that was how it was being done. I was planning to get a new cap and put it back in with the tab removed. You mentioned it might not be necessary? What other way are the screws being held? I thought they would not hold...

Dual port muffler cover and carb adjustment ms 460

No, tried to do it without. I thought that is how most were doing it?

Dual port muffler cover and carb adjustment ms 460

Made another attempt to get the rest of the limiter cap out, no go. Ended up taking the saw apart to get better access to the carb and pulled the rest out in small pieces with hemostat pliers.

Just from reading older threads, they all seem to have them?

Dual port muffler cover and carb adjustment ms 460

Mine has the hd-2 filter already. I would love to have it ported, but not sure who does that kind of thing around here.

Dual port muffler cover and carb adjustment ms 460

I have the H screw set one full turn out, so a quarter turn past stock setting. The saw just rips now! I fired up my 361 for comparison and it seems slow and weak now. There wasn't a huge difference between the two before, there is now.

Dual port muffler cover and carb adjustment ms 460

Yeah that's what I did but the screw didn't hold, it pulled out and buggered up the cap in the process. The cap is still in, but I can adjust the carb now. Not sure if the screw will hold over time though. I ordered new caps, but I would still need to get the old one out. Tried a few different...

Dual port muffler cover and carb adjustment ms 460

I read that three you just posted. Still not sure what I did wrong. Are the caps threaded on or do you just wiggle and pull them out?

Dual port muffler cover and carb adjustment ms 460

Thought I did have it lined up. It came part way out then got stuck. Must be a trick to it I'm not doing?

Dual port muffler cover and carb adjustment ms 460

Just installed the dual port cover and attempted to remove the limiter cap. Got it out part way but wouldn't go any further. It's buggered up pretty good now. Not sure what I did wrong, but it's a mess now. Suggestions on how to get it out?

Ms 361 spark arrest or screen

I ended up bending the muffler out around the screen enough so I could get a pair of pliers on the screen. Still took a lot of force to get it out though. Just tapped the metal back with a hammer and put the tab back on, but without the screen attached. That will do until I can get a new screen.

Ms 361 spark arrest or screen

I tried a few small screw drivers and fish hooks. They all broke off. That screen is really stuck.

That might work if I had one.

Ms 361 spark arrest or screen

i was attempting to pull the screen out of the muffler to clean it and broke the tab off flush. There is nothing to grab onto now. Any ideas as to how I can remove the screen?
