Trying to source a 2" OD conical air filter

I did look at their site and didn't see any conical filters that small but they don't really have a way to sort through their filters easily. I also searched a lot on Wix but they also don't have an easy way to sort filters...

Trying to source a 2" OD conical air filter

I'm trying to source a replacement for a long discontinued air filter for a Swedish jackhammer. It's 185 cc (to give an idea of required airflow) and the housing is a cylinder about 4" long with an ID of 1.920". I would like to find a conical air filter that will slide in the housing. I don't...

    The right drying process

If I'm following this correctly, given a really large log, that may experience a lot more cupping over the width making full-width slabs is going to be tough to do? So when dealing with the pith, rather than make 2 full-width slabs just on either side of the pith, it would be better to have a...

I may have a chance to mill a very large oak, but don't have a mill/bar big enough

Good idea, seems simple enough. I think we'll have to make a guide out of something heavy; may have some I-beams laying around. The good side of this is that the log is currently laying in the field right across from my parents driveway. It should be fairly easy to use dad's backhoe & skidsteer...

I may have a chance to mill a very large oak, but don't have a mill/bar big enough

I'll think on it. I'm going to have dad check to see if the neighbor will let him have it for sure. If I recall correctly, the Cannon & Granberg both come with bushings for the bar mount studs so just about any powerhead can be adapted right? Is there a chart to figure how many drive-links are...

I may have a chance to mill a very large oak, but don't have a mill/bar big enough

72" is 6 feet... I could likely make a 60" (5 foot) work if I cut off some slabs on the sides.

I may have a chance to mill a very large oak, but don't have a mill/bar big enough

My parent's neighbor had a 127 year old 56" DBH red oak cut down from their field. We have aerial pictures going back to the 50's, there was never any indication the tree was part of a fence-line. The neighbor is trying to find somebody with a saw large enough to cut it into firewood. I have...

Help with early Stihl 034 problems

Seems most of the cheapos on ebay are C3A-S31A or C3A-S39B... are those different or will they substitute just as easily? https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Carburetor-Carb-for-034-036-Stihl-MS340-MS-340-MS360-MS-360-Chainsaw-Parts/302235993671?epid=588270873&hash=item465eab4647:g:jHUAAOSwXYtYsjZ0...

Is there a difference between Dolmar 6000/6800 and the 6400/7300/7900 crankcase?

Apart from the already mentioned muffler port size issue, according to my brief reading the new plastic cover doesn't line up well. Sometimes misaligned from the decomp and if using old non-cat muffler it needs trimmed around the muffler to prevent melting. Those were a few things I saw...

Is there a difference between Dolmar 6000/6800 and the 6400/7300/7900 crankcase?

From what I've seen the new 7910 kit has a muffler mismatch issue and the plastic hood for the relocated decomp doesn't like to match up well on older saws. Is it not that big of a deal? It seems to me that it's enough of an issue to push more toward a high-quality AM big-bore kit. I heard...

Help with early Stihl 034 problems

That compensator cover was my hang-up, it looked like it would be too big and could possibly cause interference but if I can just plug it and go on with life that's the course I'll take...

    Any suggestions for replacements?

Is there a difference between Dolmar 6000/6800 and the 6400/7300/7900 crankcase?

Then it has to be a 6400/7300/7900 case/tank misidentified as a 6800 because it looks exactly the same, right down to the oil tank as an integral part of the crankcase. Thanks for the replies! I'm going to grab it... now trying to decide if I want to upgrade to 7900 P&C while I have it all torn...

Is there a difference between Dolmar 6000/6800 and the 6400/7300/7900 crankcase?

I found out last week that my Makita DCS6401 crankcase has cracked near the left rear antivibe mount/fan-shroud area. I'm considering an attempt to weld it up but plan b is replacing the case. I found a 6800 half case (the side I need) listed affordably and comparing pictures of the 6400 case...

Help with early Stihl 034 problems

BLUF: I need to replace or rebuild carb (I think), it's an early carb and I may be better off replacing. Saw: 034 marked West Germany, TIllotson (Made in USA) HK-43A carb. According to what I found on another forum this means it was one of the first 3 years production for the 034 saw. Dilemna...

Need advice on choosing a string trimmer

I realize the cultivator has it's limitations, but I'm looking for a cultivator like the Mantis (which my parents have) and the Stihl tine style looks the most similar to that. The Mantis will break new ground, it is long, painstaking work, but it's possible to break new ground with the pointed...

Need advice on choosing a string trimmer

Has anybody ever used the tiller/cultivator attachment for any of the systems? I can see that as something I would eventually buy. Is it awkward to use? I think I've pretty much settled on Stihl or Echo for the trimmer. But I don't like the tine style on the Echo tiller attachment. If the...

Need advice on choosing a string trimmer

Now I'm just more confused.... So the Husky does have attachments... where do I find them on Husky's site? What is the advantage to the Kombi system over the normal trimmer system? It seems like the regular trimmers have most all of the same attachments as the Kombi with a few exceptions.

Need advice on choosing a string trimmer

Well, right now I'll be doing about 70% trimming and 30% edging. A couple years from now my wife and I hope to buy a large piece of property and build on it. If that comes to fruition then it will be more like 95% trimming and 5% or less edging. I like the looks of the Kombi system but it's a...

Need advice on choosing a string trimmer

Ok, its time for me to finally get a string trimmer but I'm not sure what is best. I really like the Stihl with the additional add-ons. I could definitely make use of an edger too. So right now I'm looking at the FS130 (bike handle) trimmer and the edger attachment for it. Any pluses or...
