Repairing sloppy cutter wheel bolt holes

I had 4 bolt holes on my rayco rg100 that had gotten sloppy from pocket bolts that had loosened. Once the holes get sloppy they shear bolts a lot easier. I scribed the locations, welded them completely shut and re drilled withba magnetic drill without removing from machine. Saved a lot of time.

    New river wheel or greenteeth?

Ive been running CEI teeth on my rayco RG100 for the past couple years. The main reason is I had a couple year supply that came with one of my older grinders that I've kept. I'm about out and am looking at switching over to green like I have in my 8018 or try an new river sanvick wheel and...

    Belt driven stump grinders

Sorry I did reply sooner. I have replaced a jack shaft bearing. Thete are two sets. The outer suppors the jackshaft itself and is a common qmc style bearing. Get it from a bearing supplier. The inner bearinds support the cutter wheel boom and I have not touched those

Rayco RG100 and carlton 8018 comparisons

Overall I like it, it's a strong machine has been pretty reliable for the most part. I had to rebuild one of the rear wheel drive motors and have blown a couple of hydraulic hoses. The relief valve for the pressure line on the cutterwheel motor is set at 5700 psi. Rayco used 4000 psi hose. I...

My intl shakes in third gear

take it to another shop for an opinion. Not sure about transmission but if 3rd is on the main shaft and 4th is on a counter shaft, you might feel vibrations like a bad U joint in 3rd but not 4th.

    Carlton sp7015trx or Vermeer sc60xt

Most modern hydraulic loss is figured at 10% that is 5% loss on the pump side and 5% on the drive motor side. This percentage goes up as wear, tear and tolerances increase. It also goes up as the hyd oil gets hot and with friction loss from hoses, valves, fittings and filters,(proper sizing...

THink the vermeer gear boxes are bevel gears which are pretty efficient and not ring and pinion, ring and pinion are pretty much only used in differentials.

    Miller Pro 75T Stump Grinder

I've never seen a miller but they look well built. I'm guessing most parts besides the weldments are common outsourced parts like gearboxes, shafts, bearings. You may have to do a little digging to see who manufactured those parts but when you do, finding parts won't be so bad.

    Belt driven stump grinders

I've been using belt dressing on the engine to jackshaft belt on my carlton 8018 for sometime. It allows you to run them a little looser. Easier on bearings. Ive also switched from the banded 6 V belt to 6 individual kevlar belts. They fit into the pulley grooves a little deeper and you can...

olympyk 999f couple questions and should i port it?

I picked up a decent 999f off craigslist this week. Acres internet lists 999 as 100.9 cc and the 999f as 103. Did the have different p/c or is this a typo. Was thinking of porting it with fairly simple widening of ports and a muffler mod. Are there decent gains to be had by doing this? Have...

    bandit 2100 or older rg-85

Rayco RG50's and Carlton 4400's are both pretty solid machines for the money.

    bandit 2100 or older rg-85

sounds like a smaller more economical machine might be a better choice. Big machines grind faster but you have to keep them busy to justify them. If you are working just to make payments on an expensive machine it's not worth the effort.

RG 50 super hyrdaulic filter parts numbers

Don't think there's a way around that one. I think it's made specificly by bondioli for their hydro pumps.

    bandit 2100 or older rg-85

Really depends on what most of your work is. If its mostly residential where a typical job is a couple of stumps the bandit is smaller, lighter and easier on customers lawns. If you are doing a lot of stumps or big ones the RG85 will certainly out grind the bandit. Can't tell you what the...
