We have a SC50tx and has an after market remote control. All functions were working great and then one day the thing just wouldn't turn on. We ended up ordering a new circuit board for about $1400, put it in. It turned on, we re-registered it to the machine. Connects, works for a minute or...
Probably a lot cheaper than you think, get a quote. Really consider what you plan on doing with the stump before you dig it up with a backhoe. Can't count the times that customers called and said, "Well, got all of the stumps dug up for ya, just need you to remove them." Dump fees and...
I have a SC60tx, SC50tx, and an SC372. My SC50tx grinder wheel is real beat up and ready to be replaced. I have heard a lot of mixed opinions on some of the after market stump grinder wheels, but I want to make the most informed purchase because I know whatever I put on, I will end up using...
I recently purchased a 2012 f750 with chip box. I'm in Washington state and they require it to be weighted and to put that on the title. I have a few days befofe I'm able to free up and do that. They did say they take something in writing of a truck similar to it that shows what it weighs...
I am going to get in and check out my clutch on my 2005 BC1800XL and don't want to order the part from vermeer until I know for sure the clutch is toast, but it won't fully disengage and I believe my groundie has been over greasing it. I just am very busy and trying to get this done on the...
The sc50tx just has the main bearing to worry about on the lower gearbox, which I have been getting about 1,000-1,500 hours out of it. We did have a windstorm that we have just caught up with, where we have weeks of 40+ hours and now back to the norm of close to 20 hours per week. All grinders...
Give or take a couple bucks, some of those hours go on the smaller grinder too though and it doesn't bring in as much pay, but pretty close. Fixed my sc50tx and content for now, but it will break on me again and then I may consider buying a 7015. I had carlton send me a sample pocket and tooth...
That's what I have been hearing, the carlton's are good machines. What year and engine is yours? I have been looking at a couple 2006's, but nothing is near me, so I would have to trust a site unseen purchase, so almost worth it to pony up the additional 30-40k and go new.
I SC372 and a SC50tx. I am very happy with the way these machines handle the stumps I task them with, yet the SC50tx is breakdown all the time and I have maintain this thing like nobody else and throw new parts at it with any question, just because I am desperate to have it running asap. I...
I'm looking to buy a 7015 carlton. I have a 2014 SC372 and a 2001 SC50tx. The SC50tx just breaks down way too much and I just throw hundreds and thousands at it all the time, because when it is running, it is kicking butt. Also, from my research, it sounds like 50-60hp + and they all grind...
So set the ohm meter to hertz? Then touch the black with the black off the mag pickup and the red with the red off the mag pickup to the ohm meter red/black and then wave a screwdriver in front of the end of the mag pickup to see if the ohms gets a reading, if so it works and wires are bad?
I have not tested them, just put new one in and then it runs for awhile. I'm gonna bring it to vermeer dealer Monday and he will show me how to test them though.
I have a 2001 Vermeer SC50tx that has went through about 6 mag pickups in the last 2 years, 3 in the last 3 months. There is grease buildup in the bell housing and flywheel. Will this really take out the mag pickup! Any other suggestions? I tried changing the autosweep computer as well and same...

3rd key switch. The wire has power, anyway, I just put a new wire in and taped that one off. Chipper still runs like crap, has all kinds of problems with the intake manifold and carb.
I found that there was power being distributed to the starter wire, not the post off the ignition switch, the actual wire, when the key was turned to the "on" position. I just disconnected it and ran a straight wire from the starter post of the ignition switch to the starter, it turns over the...
People go on old forums all the time when they are looking for the same answers to similar questions, I encourage others to answer as many questions on these forums as possible to add archives of useful information to the public. If only people would answer questions that I have!!!!!!
If you can give up some inches of bar, put a 20'' or 25'' bar on the 660 and there will be no need for power mods, that mother will rip! If you are cutting big wood, then obviously you can't down grade the bar. I have a 066 with a 20'' and it has stupid power. I also have a 660 with a 28''...
