Those of you with hydraulic splitters.......what is your relief pressure set at?

5" cylinder, 2300 psi. If it stalls, get the chainsaw out and make a cut. I don't want to tear anything up and have to replace anything. It's all about design.

Maintenance for hydraulic fluid (log splitter)?

Allowing your oil to get 100 degrees above ambient temperature will help get rid of any moisture in your hydraulic oil. I have a cooler on mine, and if I haven't used it in a while, I'll unplug the fan and let it get good and hot before plugging the fan back in. If your oil is dark, change it.

    Splitter Oil Cooler

Just saying that you can get some false readings with that, even if it's painted black.

    Splitter Oil Cooler

Best to put a piece of black tape on what you are trying to measure, and shoot that with the laser. If you are going by a sight glass theremometer, those temps can easily vary by 10 degrees, so you know. Mine will read 20 degrees difference from the temp sensor that's in my oil cooler. Half...

Need tecno help with router,(internet kind)

I see what you are saying, but you DON'T need an extender in your camper! If the signal is good enough to get to the camper, having an extender in the camper is going to do nothing but add another hop things have to make and add latency. Yes you can connect 2 routers, and configure them so it...

Need tecno help with router,(internet kind)

You don't need the extender inside the camper if the 3 antenna router is only 40 feet away.

How hot should hydraulic fluid get in a splitter?

Typical seals are rated for 180 degrees. You car has special seals that can take higher temps. Your cylinder is hot because that's where the inefficiencies in flow are. You can't compress liquids.

    Splitter Oil Cooler

You don't need that big of a cooler. I run a 28 gpm pump and an AKG cooler (I think it's a D20 model, but I can't remember, been a while) and that will cool all 30 gallons of the oil I run in less then 5 minutes. I intentionally unplugged the fan to heat the oil (I have built in flaws to add...

    Eastonmade splitter

I do 10-12 cord for myself, and I do my Dad's as well. I use wood for primary heat in winter. My builder didn't have a lot of time to scrounge for parts. I do anywhere from 1 to 1.5 cord a day, cut, split, hauled, and in the basement, depending on what type of wood it is.

    Eastonmade splitter

I didn't have time to scrounge for parts. I needed it done so I could use it.

    Eastonmade splitter

I have way more then $3500 in just materials to have mine built. If you want speed and power, it's going to cost you. Plain and simple. A lot of people don't understand that, and think the faster, commercial splitters at too expensive and cost too much. You can speed one up, but then you...

    Fast Hydraulic Log Splitters

7-8 second cycle time here. Plenty fast enough.

    Heating with wood...but

I used to back feed till my dumb gen over produced and burned a hole in the new carpet, could have easily burned the house down. I got rid of it and now have a 22kw Generac with an automatic transfer switch. I just make sure the green light is on and that it exercises weekly. Got a 1000...

Splitting with My Allwood Oak Series Splitter Video

In your video, look at 5:25........watch the 4 way. It looks like the top of the 4 way, the piece that slides up and down on the tube, looks like it's tipped downward, by a lot! I understand the shavings between the main wedge and the 4 way post, mine does that as well. I would expect it to...

Splitting with My Allwood Oak Series Splitter Video

There's something serious going on with your 4 way. In the video it looks like it's loose as hell and the angle changes a lot from with it's up to when you hide it. I'd look into that before something get damaged.

    Timberwolf TW-6 Near Catastrophic Failure

Use harder steel. 130+ hours on mine since it was built, scaling isn't even worn through yet. Sorry to hear about your TW. I'd stay away from any beam splitter just for that reason, they aren't strong enough. Of course you don't need 3k psi either with the right designed wedge.

Anyone use a small electric log splitter for making kindling?

I have one in my basement, I use on softwood to make kindling. I've had it for 7-8 years, works great! Use it to make big pieces smaller too. If it goes in the furnace door, it goes in the basement. If I want smaller, I throw it on the electric splitter in the basement and split it.

Picked up an Allwood Oak Series Splitter

I had several design problems with mine. From it not splitting stuff to the oil getting so hot to not the right recharge on the motor that I requested as I ordered, to design flaws in the cooler that was installed and how it was controlled. The tank wasn't baffled right or even at all (been so...

Picked up an Allwood Oak Series Splitter

Hope you got a good deal on it. I hated mine and returned it. Poorly made and designed, wouldn't split a lot of pieces I tried to send through it. There are way better alternatives out there for sure. For most people it probably works fine, but it didn't for me.
