    Drop Starting a Chainsaw

Usually start mine the same way the video shows, if that's drop starting then I'm guilty.

Any baby boomers still heat with wood?

Turned 60 this year & still heat exclusively with wood. Burn about 5 cords every winter.

Western Larch bark peel makes ya smile.

It's called tamarack out here in the pnw, it and red fir are the preferred firewood. Usually if it's dead & dry the bark falls right off. Doesn't usually have many limbs & it splits easy.

    362 hard starting

Went up today and cut a couple cords. The temperature was 15 degrees cooler than last trip and the saw started fine every time. There is a little noise when I open the gas cap, seems like a little pressure built up.

I'll check it next trip up to the property, thanks!

    362 hard starting

There was a fair amount of bubbles in the gas. After it didn't want to start I opened the cap to be certain it had enough fuel & noticed the bubbles. It did look kinda like it was boiling but after I filled tank (was half empty) it was still bubbling. Gas in tank was warm but not hot. It still...

    362 hard starting

Ok, I can try letting it idle before shutting it off. I try to keep it & myself in the shade when possible & it's fresh gas in the saw. Thanks

    362 hard starting

Is that part of the flippy cap or something else?

    362 hard starting

Have a 362, it's several years old and been well used. It's been hard to start when warm the last couple times out. Yesterday after running it for 20 minutes I opened the gas cap & noticed air bubbles coming up thru the gas? Any ideas on what can cause this? Could it cause the hard starting...

    DONE with the woodstove

Obviously it's still burning , I like having heat in the house & shop. I just don't understand the worry about leaving the woodstove burning while you're gone. They run for 9-10 hours a day while I'm at work . I keep the chimney clean and in good repair . Never had a problem & don't worry about it.

    DONE with the woodstove

Why worry about leaving the house or shop with the wood stove burning ? Always turn them down a bit before I leave for any length of time.

Getting firewood with the portable winch

I probably wouldn't bother with my winch if I'm pulling logs out of a pile on a road. Scenery looks a lot like the mountains up here in Wa.

Some new tools to help my old back

Sounds like a lot of equipment for 6 cords a year.

    2018/2019 firewood prices

600 a cord? Holy crap that's expensive. Not sure why someone would pay that for firewood. Cheaper to use natural gas ,propane, etc. I burn wood cause I have 50 acres to cut on & the national forest is next door.

Never heard mention tamarack being used.

Tamarack & red fir are the main firewood trees out here in Washington state. Normally a straight tall tree, not many branches & splits easy. Decent burn time & good heat. No hardwoods in the wild out here
