How to find honest firewood sellers??

Like someone else said, try buying your wood in the spring, one season ahead. I have one guy that buys faithfully for two years ahead. Be sure the load is stacked, and not thrown. I will let anyone measure my dump truck or trailer and they can be sure they are getting the cubic feet they...

    New Toy !!

Interesting...my dealer steered me away from the high flow, I am going to look into that and have a few choice words for my dealer. I would love to see the Bobcat stump grinder working on a high flow machine...

    New Toy !!

Be sure to check that attachments can handle the high flow...anything with a hydraulic motor I have a standard flow 185...off the top of my head, the brush cutter, auger and stump grinder you need different models for to handle the high flow. I would like to see the high flow stump...

    Holy oil shock batman !!!

Lol, I'm sure he uses WVO as diesel fuel. I feel your pain about the Honda...I have a Rubicon. Even changing my own oil cost me almost $40 in that thing, and you're right, you need that special oil.

Sealing themo-pex entry @ basement wall

Good work! I would probably take it a step further and try to put old silt fencing against the fill to keep mud from infiltrating the stone...at least I'm not the only one that does that. Some applications don't allow digging that deep, so I go as far as possible and fill with stone, and silt...

Sealing themo-pex entry @ basement wall

Don't use spray foam to waterproof anything! Insulate, YES, waterproof, NO!!! A lot of people do it, it doesn't last and wasn't intended for this purpose.

    Side-boards for this trailer?

Unfortunately, I can't see your pictures...here's my suggestion without seeing pics. Spend a few bucks on treated 2x4s or whatever size you need to fit your stake pockets. For my dump trailer, I used 3/4 PLYWOOD, not OSB. I had some old primer and paint, so I painted the plywood. Once the...

    Rhino wood hauler

Thanks for the feedback, a lot of great ideas. I have looked at the Rhinos and the Rangers this week, and from my opinion, the Ranger is on top. I am trying to combine work and play, something I can haul wood this weekend and next weekend be enjoying with the boy on the Hatfield-McCoy Trails...

Talk to me about skid loader grapples

It seems like there are 100s different manufacturers and styles of grapples these days. What are you using it for? I would definitely recommend a "dual clamp" for picking up uneven loads...if you're picking up even loads, you wouldn't want/need a grapple in the first place. I have a...

    Rhino wood hauler

I'm taking a hard look at the Ranger...looks like Polaris is on top of this game. UTVs aren't very common here, people like me stand by their 4 wheelers. I'm way behind as far as technology goes here.

    Rhino wood hauler

Do any of you guys use a Rhino or similar side by side for around the woodlot and for recreation? Two reasons, I am considering selling my Bobcat and would like something to move bulk items around with on my property. Also, my son wants a new ATV...the way I see it, he gets my old Honda...

They would be awesome with a dump box on them! Nice find though, looks like the sides fold down making them even more versatile.

    Pine firewood

Personally, I wouldn't burn pine in an open fireplace. It pops and cracks too much for my liking. I have no problem burning pine in my woodstove when its dry and I can tend to it to keep it burning nice and hot...

Why can't everyday go so well?

Lol, I'm not afraid to burn pine. Its not "good" wood, but its free wood, which I have no problem burning...especially when all I have to do is split it. It will burn great in the evenings when someone is home to feed the fire. Let it dry and burn it hot...it all burns.

Why can't everyday go so well?

Thursday, I had a regular customer call me out for a stump grinding estimate. The utility company's subcontractors took down all 33 of my customer's pines for free (against his will). In addition to getting a big stump grinding job...Wood is wood, especially when its free, and I scored about 5...

Is it still considered Free firewood when ...

If I were you, I wouldn't say much...just hold onto it for the next time you screw up...then tell her "Remember the fence? We're even." My wife is famous for holding onto stuff and bringing it up weeks, sometimes months later...
