    041 no start

I've said it before, I'll say it again. This saw is going to be the end of me. The noise I am confident is the clutch, but now it won't start again:cry::cry::mad: I just can't believe this nonsense. I really am mechanically inclined, I swear. Has spark, has compression, has fuel. My cad...

    Breaking in new rings

I sure tried to. That is what I have gathered from the search function, but it was only in reference to brand new saws. Asking the question directly gets me a direct answer.

    Breaking in new rings

What is your guys standard procedure for breaking in a new ring or new piston and ring? Coat it in oil for assembly then let er rip, right? Don't fully rev it with no load and you're good to go.

    041 no start

I greased the needle cage bearing before installing it. Other that I don't know where I should apply grease. It really sounds more like something getting knocked around in the crankcase, but maybe something rattling. I didn't notice the noise while it was running with the clutch cover off. I...

    041 no start

It definitely could be the main bearings. It does have the points as well. Spark was present the whole time. My first thought was that when it got warmed up something caused a no spark issue. That was not the case. I added the video to the first post. The audio is terrible, but you can...

    041 no start

I only removed the wrist pin and replaced it. I am 99.98% sure nothing fell in while the case was open.

    041 no start

This saw is killing me!!! New p+c and brand new ring on top of a carb rebuild and other general cleaning up. I was trying to get the carb dialed in to a nice idle. It died and will not restart. It died many times while trying to get it dialed in but started easy enough. It began getting...

What do you use to carry your saw?

Wow, that's kind of amazing considering how little we use them for such things over here. Your english is dang good too!

What do you use to carry your saw?

What are you using your chainsaw on a roof for OP? I just can't think of anything we would use one for other than big timbers like in block and pier foundation.

    Stihl Carb Adjustment Screwdriver Size?

My local dealer has 'official stihl adjusting screwdrivers' for a dollar. I use a cabinet tip flat head screwdriver as it fits the best.

    muffler painting

Q Yep, just regular high temp paint, I think it said BBQ and grille paint. It's not much more $$ than regular spray paint either, where automotive exhaust paint costs more. Available wherever spray paint is sold!:msp_thumbup:

    Stihl 028 WB

I would say around 200 bucks. with some good hard use. I saw one at the dealers a couple months ago, used, with a price tag of 325! :msp_scared: You could get more than 200 to the right buyer. I don't buy and trade much though, someone else will have a better number.

    Stihl 028 WB

Yes, your pitch is .325. It is determined by the sprocket (I think :msp_w00t:)

    Stihl 028 WB

I think post 20 in this thread http://www.arboristsite.com/chainsaw/46721-2.htm explains what could be causing you lag before acceleration. Good luck!

    Stihl 028 WB

A 16" bar would be about perfect for most things. You can get away with a longer bar if you use skip tooth or deal mostly with softwoods. I slight lag is due to a carb setting, but I don't remeber what exactly. The rough running at high speed is most likely due to a dirty carb. How does the...

Are we in the golden era....

What people (mainly the op or anyone REALLY wanting others opinions) were supposed to get out of my post was that a simple search should provide more answers than this thread will. Especially since this thread never made it past 2 pages, with only a small handful of relevant replies. The other...

    anti-kickback chain, opinions, comments ...

I have thought about picking one up because my new saw doesn't have a chain brake. I don't know much about them though, other than most people hate them.

Are we in the golden era....

There was a thread about a month ago asking the same thing. It also had a poll asking when you thought the 'golden age" was.
