    Homelite Chainsaws

Thanks! It's Oregon 1/2" chipper chain. Dan

    Homelite Chainsaws

Finally cut a bit with the 3100 that was finished up last year. There's a rebuild thread on HoH. Chain needed the rakers took down a bit, but it was fun to finally run it some. Dan

    Stihl 090 starter cup removal

Certainly. I'm still assessing it for what she needs. Also trying to decide whether to repaint or leave it original. Dan

    Stihl 090 starter cup removal

Thank you! I tried twisting by hand and it wouldn't budge. Got a oil filter remover, cut a strip from an inner tube so it'd grab and not scratch it. Broke free and after a couple of turns it got easy. Spun it off by hand. Now gotta dig up the flywheel puller thingamajig. Dan

    Stihl 090 starter cup removal

Found a Stihl 090 recently and trying to tear her down for a rebuild. Can anyone explain how to remove the starter cup? I've removed the nut from the crank and tried to lightly tap it, but it's on there tight. Do you just put a 2 jaw puller where the two holes are, or is there some special...

    Homelite Chainsaws

So here's a sample why I'm being so stubborn about this Solo thing. There's a sprocket, oiler parts, anti-vibe, starter and drive case covers, just a random smattering of parts for 540/8800/DM54/MP88 type saws, and they all have a made in USA stamp on em. You can look at other stuff like...

    Homelite Chainsaws

Its nice to hear, but I'd still like to see something documented before I'm a true believer. Its been a few years since I've been into a 540 or 8800, but I can't remember any "Made in W. Germany" items either on parts or on spare part packaging. 290s and 340s, its all over, and the 54 is...

    Homelite Chainsaws

Actually, I don't think its been proven yet that the 540 was built by Solo. I know there's a lot of talk and speculation, and it does seem very possible, but there's not an equivalent Solo model to the 540 and don't think any documents have turned up yet proving it. Maybe there has been and I...

    Homelite Chainsaws

There were several updates as the XP-1000 evolved through the 1020 and its 4 or so variants, 1050 and finally the Super 1050. Biggest difference I've noted between the 1050 and the Super 1050 is the Super used a different rod and piston. They went to a pair of bushings that was inserted on...

    Homelite Chainsaws

Last week we visited family up in NC. On the way, we drove through Gastonia, so being the Homelite nut I am, we looked up the location of the Homelite plant that was built there back in the '50s. It ain't owned by Homelite anymore and the best google hits I found were related to history of...

    Homelite Chainsaws

Awesome! Thank you. What a perfect Christmas gift. These articles are a holy grail for Homelite history. I'd started a timeline of different models and this answers a ton of questions. Merry Christmas, Dan

    Homelite 650 anti vibe needed

    650s used the same part as 750s, A-12708-B. "Plain" 650s used 4. Super 650s and 750s used 5 anti-vibes. Dan

    Homelite Chainsaws

Its left hand threaded, so clockwise to loosen. I love 150s, but flywheel removal is one thing that isn't the greatest. I always like to put a nut on the end of the crank when removing the flywheel 'cause one I tried without one and the puller ended up breaking off the end of the crank. So...

    Homelite 360 help

Welcome YoungBuck96. Another thing is anti-vibes, especially the bottom one on the clutch side. It gets oily and can turn to mush. If the anti-vibes are shot, there's alot more flex between the main engine and the fuel/handle, which adds wear and tear on even a new intake boot. Search around...

    Homelite Chainsaws

As heavy as she is, it'd be cheaper to drive up with it than to ship it! My Dad's first saw was a AH47 DB. Still remember as a kid how I jabbed a hole in the skinner air filter because I couldn't figure out what the thing was and decided I just had to see how tough it was made. Wasn't as...

    Homelite Chainsaws

Yep, a new condenser and now this one runs great. I know its not a Homelite, but wanted to follow up with the previous post. Dan

    Homelite Chainsaws

Mike, I wish that wuz a 3100 :baba:. Unfortunately its a Super 2100, and a later one at that with the little 3/4" clutch. Still fun though. There's a David Bradley that's been hard to get going and I'm betting it has a condenser problem too. Think that's going to be next in line for checking...

    Homelite Chainsaws

Been working on this saw for a few days and wanted to share something that may be helpful to someone else in the future. Finished rebuilding with new bearings, seals, and rings and was ready to see how she would run. It fired off after a few pulls with the choke, so I was optimistic all was...

    Homelite Super XL Recoil Issues

Never seen this personally, but here's another possibility to check out. The starter uses the two pawls that are bolted on the flywheel to engage with the starter pulley (number 17 in the diagram) in the two cutouts on the end. The pawls are spring loaded so they tend to push inward toward the...

Big Homelite. What's considered the best?

The pro series ignition parts are popping up all the time for sale on feebay. It may be a simple fix, so could end up just taking a little time. Not sure how much you know about these ignitions, so if I say something obvious its because I'll assume for other readers some details are needed...
