    Wally world bar lube

They switched brands!! When Wally's had the Poulan oil for $8.00 here in CA it worked fine ( it was a normal amber color, not red , but hey that could just be a CA blend). Now Wally's sells their own Super-Tech line, and it is advertised as 30wt . It seems to have no tackifier whatsoever, so I...

    New bar for my 660?

Bar blues 660's have enough power to torque the bar in a cut. If the bar rails are true and the chain is good, you shouldn't have a problem unless too much force is applied to the saw. If you have the small-nose "green labeled" Stihl bar, get at least the big-nose " yellow labeled" Stihl bar. I...

Why is my saw cutting crooked?

IMHO # 1 cause is the bar needs to be trued-up. Misfiling teeth won't get as much of a slice going in the cut like a bad rail on the bar.

    I did nothin'

Guess she doesn't subscribe to the theory " Just because I'm on a diet doesn't mean I can't look at the menu!" ?? Maybe for fun just say the photos were from Stihl calender shots.....and Stihl was just trying to promote their product line!

And why can't it be both? These days everyone is OK with so many addictions / afflictions why can't we all just get a saw?

    What Is Junk Wood???

I LOVE that wood! It weighs about 50 lbs per cord stacked right? On a lighter note, we all get crap wood here and there that we don't want to sell in load of mixed, so we give that stuff away to those less fortunate. It all burns, and free to people that otherwise would be cold is a good thing.

The very best tractor attachment for loading firewood into trucks with a tractor is?

Late as usual to post We use a 84" wide rock bucket w/ 4" spacing on the tines. It is a bobcat-style quick attach that is on a Kubota L48TLB. We just under cut the pile a bit to get a full bucket, pull to the end of the trailer or stakebed with the bucket end just at the very edge of the bed...

Is it possible to cut 24" logs with a 18" bar?

Get a 20" bar We have (1) 55 and (2) 455 Husqvarnas that I let the young guys use. They will easily pull Stihl RSLFK on a 20" bar. Start the cut on top, bury the bar down until you are well past the biggest cross section of the log while still:hmm3grin2orange: keeping it out of dirt. Then move...

Sometimes being a rookie is expensive.

If that bar is an original Stihl, it is stamped with pitch, gauge, length, and the number of drive links. Any reputable dealer can give you the right chain with that info ( even a Husqvarna dealer selling Oregon chain).

Sometimes being a rookie is expensive.

My way to try to keep it simple Don't know what was OEM on a 029 super, but 290's and 390's that I've bought came with .375 / .050 chain and of course sprockets or sprocket rims and the corresponding nose gear pitch on the bar. It's all gotta match!! So having said that, I pretty much use .375...

A little help repairing a splitter please?

Rule of thumb When using a 2- stage gear pump, typical in log splitters, they are available typically in 11, 13.5, 16, 22, and 28 gpm . The gpm rating is @ no load up to about 700 psi. After the second stage of the pump kicks in, the VOLUME of the pump is reduced by about 25% while the pressure...

    Two question.

We measure Found a little trick to measure that works well for us. Ever break a tape on a tape measure? Don't throw it away! Cut it into pieces along the red stud locating marks on the tape to get even 16" lengths, then round of the sharp edges so it will slip into your back pocket when not in...

    Saw Chains

Stihl chain ID The only # on Stihl chain is on the drive link.It identifies the gauge I.E. 1= .043, 3= .050, 5= .058, 6= .063, and 0=.080 (harvester chain). Use calipers to measure the distance of the drive link pin from one to the next to detemine the pitch. Cutter shape ID comes w/ exp...
