    Friskars Hatchet

I have the estwing camp axe as well and I like it except for the nasty vibration you get in the handle. seems like they could have done better with that.

this thread is cool... i have been wanting to get some sort of outdoor pit going but i just cant justify spending a hundred bucks on the crappy pits they sell at the home stores...

Harbor Freight 22 ton 9hp splitter

Not as bad as it sounds... Sister works for rental place... Cost her ten bucks... Gave her all the long pieces for campfire wood and she was happy. The Ryobi worked great for eucalyptus but sucks for pine and oak.

    Homemade firewood saw project

So you don't worry about this saw losing the chain and hitting you in the chest/face? I do think that turning it around the other way would be impractical also, but just thought of safety for a moment for all the "what if's"...

    Homemade firewood saw project

Looks like a cool idea but seems like a safety issue there... If the chain were to come apart or off the saw it seems that you are in direct line of flight for the debris. Could be alleviated with some sort of PPE and or static guard though... EDIT; On another note... why not just turn the...

Harbor Freight 22 ton 9hp splitter

So the manual states it should be running aw64 oil. Which is better? From what I gather from various google searches, aw32 is 10w and aw64 is 15w.

Harbor Freight 22 ton 9hp splitter

I know its been a few months, but I have been so busy and the now fiancee is off at her sisters in LA for the weekend, I had time to put my splitter together. It has been clouding my driveway for months... One question tho, what kind of hydraulic fluid to use? I have been seeing...

Harbor Freight 22 ton 9hp splitter

Its in at the freight depot. Looks like HF didn't authorize liftgate service, not a problem though since I have access to a driver with a 14' stake with liftgate. on another note... Looks like it does not have the subaru 9.0hp engine but a Loncin 9.0hp engine... is this a chi-copy of the...

Bay area air quality management banned burning on Christmas...

So no burn ban for NYE, but they sure did ban it on NYD. Its amazing though,we have the most gorgeous clear blue sky with cold temps and a nice 10-20 mph gusty breeze. I really would like to know what drives them to ban burning on a specific day with an advanced notice? How can they forecast...

What do you all use for kindling?

Pellets(bought a bag for 25¢ at mao mart on the clearance shelf) mixed with noodles, saw chips and a little candle wax are my home made firestarters. Other than those, I have a couple boxes of duraflame firestart.

Bay area air quality management banned burning on Christmas...

Just seems kinda strange that they would ban during the times that people are home the most. I'll bet and update this thread if they decide to ban it for new years... They asked us not to burn last Thursday and Friday, then banning Saturday and Sunday. I'll bet they will do the same again for...

Bay area air quality management banned burning on Christmas...

Another way to put a damper(pun intended) on the Christmas spirit... Here in the SF bay they banned burning for Christmas. How many of you think these people are in cahoots with the power/gas companies and tree huggers? They say that on a spare the air day you can see that there is pollution...

    This IS Winter, right?

yeah, but its cold(not like midwest cold, but cold for us) here... and on top of that the dang enviro freaks are banning us from burning almost every night... :msp_mad:
