    Stihl Motomix questions.

Took a new, under warranty Stihl saw to the dealer, had to pay because they said that the problem was the gas. I had a neighbor that bought gas from the same station, took the saw in and they said it was the gas. I was using Stihl oil in the gas, so was he. Have had other saws have gas problems...

So what do you guys think about your first autotune or mtronic saw after you have ran regular carbs for years??

I have no trouble cutting Osage, the hard part is getting to the trunk through the branches. The osage where I cut grow individually, they are a tight bunch of thorn-covered branches 15 to 20 feet tall. They were originally imported to the Shenandoah Valley to make fencing. Some have grown into...

So what do you guys think about your first autotune or mtronic saw after you have ran regular carbs for years??

I run an 18" bar on the 362 C-M, largest diameter trees I cut for firewood now are around 14" diameter so the 18" works well. I cut on a rocky ridge, so a long bar sticking past the end of the log can end up hiring a rock. I do have longer bars I can use if I need to cut something bigger.

So what do you guys think about your first autotune or mtronic saw after you have ran regular carbs for years??

I have recently acquired 3 saws to cut firewood. I have access to a large supply of white and red oak and locust (lots of osage orange, good firewood but no fun to cut). Saws are new Stihl 280, 261,and 362. They start easily, run well and cut well. The 261 is impressive, but the 362 is amazing...

    Echo CS 352 oil leak

I disassembled my CS 352 because it had what seemed to be a small oil leak. I found that the whole interior of the saw was full of oily wood dust. Every nook and cranny had a wad of oily dust. Took quite an effort to clean it. Still not sure where the leak occurred but it was inside the casing...

    Canned pre-mix fuel

I recently had a problem with a 261 not starting. Took it to a stihl dealer since it was under warrenty. They said it was the fuel (no warranty coverage for fuel problems). I have been using local gas and Stihl oil mix for years, but the local gas seems to have changed somehow. I got the Stihl...

    Stihl MS180C smoking/overheating?

Had an interesting time with a Stihl 180. I have only run it once, and it ran fine.few months later I ran it again. It ran fine for about 10 cuts through small diameter limbs, and it quit and would not start. Since it was still under warranty I returned it to the dealer for repair. They said it...

What is your favorite chainsaw of all time?

My 041 purchased new in 1977 is my favorite also. Have had many other good Stihl, but I like this on the best.

    Gas leak inside carburetor

I have two saws that have leaked gas inside the carburetors. Gas is apparently leaking past the gaskets. No problem to replace gaskets with carb kit, but I can't figure what is causing the leaks. I have never had this happen before. Anyone have a similar problem? Carbs on Stihl 041 and 021, both...

Troy-Bilt 27 ton splitter engine problem

Pulled the head, some carbon buildup. got most of it off. Is there a solvent that at least will help remove carbon when I have direct access to the carbon?

Here might be a good place to ask this question: 041 repair: chip or points. Which is better?

    Troy Bilt splitter engine

Apparently the arm is held on by the traditional horizontal bolt and nut, not sure where they got to. Now I need to figure out how to adjust the governor when I reassemble it. Anyone have experience with this operation on a 120600 (1216020331E1) Briggs?
