Need advice on breaking down 42” oak round

Whether you are splitting with a machine or by hand always split "up" the tree. As the tree stood, if you can still determine the difference between splitting up or splitting down, always split UP. It will always split cleaner and easier this way.

HARBOR FREIGHT 10-TON MANUAL LOG SPLITTER

You will use it once or twice and it will sit in your garage forever. Don't waste your money. It was designed to get your money not to split firewood effectively. A maul and sledge is much faster. This will wear you out splitting one log.

I cut firewood because: Actually I have no valid reason to cut firewood, I just like to see how much sawdust I can make with my 6+ Hp Dolmar.

Hay elevator converted to firewood conveyor - video

Why convert? Why go through all the trouble? Just use a grain elevator but be careful not to bend the grain paddles.

Dolmar vs stihl, husky.time for new trim saws.

I have had great success with the Dolmar 7900. Powerful, minimal vibration, a real bear of a saw. Better than Stihl and Husky IMHO as I have had both.

    Shrink wrapped firewood

Firewood Bundle Business or Bust First of all, the bundled firewood business is very competitive but is a multi-million dollar business. True you must do a large volume to make the kind of jing that makes it worthwhile. I know. I was in the business. You will need 500k to invest to become...

    Hard starting Dolmar 7900

Dolmar 7900 Won't Start It usually starts right up but tonight it did not. I smell gasoline. Any ideas? Try to find a Dolmar Dealer in Western PA - forget it. Gonna try a new plug tomorrow as soon as I find where to get one.

26T Iron and Oak or 37T Northstar Splitter?

Iron and Joke IMHO forget the Iron & Oak. Built like a tank but doesn't last. Bolts shear off, trouble with stand, engine trouble after 2 years. I should have bought the Northern.

    Dolmar Chainaws

Dolmar 7900 The Baron of saws Yup. I have had Stihls, Huskys, McCulloughs, Homelite gear driven 36" bar, and others. The Dolmar 7900 cuts faster than any non-modded so far. Very satisfied.

Dolmar PS-6400/7300/7900 successor -- any known?

Dolmar 7900 The Baron of saws Recently purchased a Dolmar 7900 new with 24" bar for under 600 bucks. I like it better than the Stihl 441. It runs like a banshee and goes through seasoned oak like ship through a tin horn! Great saw from Germany. I name it the Baron of saws!:greenchainsaw:

"Ark, arch, ok I'll give you that one." Thanks for the reply. Maybe others can offer some comments about the sparking chain.

    Sparks flying off chain?

"ark" ? Is that anything like Noah's Ark? Take your saw out at night with the chain properly tightened to the bar and run it. If the bar and the chain are in good shape you might see a spark or two. But I am not talking about that. I am speaking of people who do not cut right. I do...

Man I just got po'd at a wood seller

"All wood is measured in 4X8 piles that’s 4 foot high and 8 foot long if you don’t get 4x8 piles then your not getting a face, rick, ½ or full cord, " Actually all wood and some other commodities are measured by the cord which is 128 cu ft. It doesn't matter how you stack it as long as it...

    Sparks flying off chain?

Does it spark at night without cutting anything? NO Does it spark at night when an experienced cutter cuts wood? NOT USUALLY Many people have been cutting incorrectly all of their lives. Per haps you are one of them. If you put pressure side torque on the bar because you can't cut...

    Sparks flying off chain?

"Sparks are normal, there's nothing wrong with your chain or bar. Think about it. A metal chain is spinning around a metal bar at an extremely high rate of speed, it's going to produce sparks. In low lighting you would be amazed at the amount of sparks flying off the bar and chain." I don't...
