Finally got one of my dream saws today. Spent the better part of 10 years trying to find one in decent shape and affordable. Up to this point whenever I found a good deal on one someone beat me to it. After a little drive time to Michigan and back she’s safely on the bench. Not a shelf queen...
024/240 026/260/261 are definitely nice saws if you can find a deal on them. A 170/180 is usually what i see pop up at dirt cheap prices and they make for a nice light around the yard trim saw.
I have no idea how many tanks this thing has had but I’d guess quite a few. I bought it 2 months ago and it looked like it lived a rough life. Original bar had most the paint smoked off it and had so much dirt and grit in the nose sprocket you’d have thought the original owner used it as a...
It sounds like your reading’s are low because of an automotive tester with a long hose and schrader valve not close to the cylinder since your other saws are showing similar readings
I believe the difference is mainly the chain adjuster and the recoil starter.
MS 180 regular starter and front chain adjuster
MS 180 C regular starter and easy adjust chain built into the clutch cover
MS 180 CBE easy start recoil and easy adjust chain
2 questions:
it ran great before you did the base delete or after ?
Just the carb was pressure checked or did you press / vac check the whole saw ?
Quick and dirty check, shot of mix directly into the cylinder and hook up inline spark tester
I didn’t even catch that the first time. Had to rewatch the video. I had a similar hack on a MS 180 i just picked up but the p.o. Used a length of 14 gauge wire instead.
