CADs........ is this how it starts

yeah, the whole CAD thing sucks alright. The GF got me a ms170 for clearing trails for the bday, and was at an auction tonight and picked up a nice looking 028wb for $50. 150 on the compression, piston is clean, just needs a little cleaning and tuning. up to like 14 or 15 now, no where near...

How do you guys dry your wood?

lol, yeah, its keeps the canoe off the ground and protects most of the wood. Plus the overhang on the garage tends to keep it fairly dry. usually keep the ready to burn stuff closest to the door of the garage, as currently that where my only burner is. Ya work with what ya got.

How do you guys dry your wood?

Drop it, buck it, split it, and stack it on a plastic or wooden pallet and let em dry. Usually by fall/winter they are good to go. Sun and air do all the work.

    yellow poplar?

Thanks brothers, thought that's what it was, but wasn't sure. Got more to pick up and the remainder of the tree will come down eventually. Yeah, its pretty wet, but its split and stacked and will make good campfire wood or feed my cast iron stove in the garage this winter. I'll get a pic posted...

    Parts washer fluid recommendations

I've been using mineral spirits myself, but its gonna be time for a change soon. Sams club has a purple degreaser that I normally use in a spray bottle and it works good. of course it's 6.58/gal and the "parts washer solvent" from menards which actually says "white solvent" is 44.95/5 gal. Maybe...

    echo cs-8000 questions

We use the QV-8000 version for all of saws on our fire dept. Got one on each engine and truck. I like them. They start easy, and with that short little quick vent bar and carbide chain, they cut pretty good. Used one on friday night at a structure fire to make entry through the side of a two...

    Is a winch enough?

You can always double your winchs pulling ability with snatch block as long as you have enough cable. Keep an eye on the heat build up.
