My 026 Running Issues...possible air leak?

problem solved After cleaning the carb real good and replacing the fuel lines and filter, I saw an arc between the spark plug wire and the metal part of the rubber cushion. Looks like when I turned the saw up, the wire pulled back enough that it would not arc. I taped up the wire for now, will...

My 026 Running Issues...possible air leak?

I wraped the torn yellow wire to insulate from the black wire. No shorting, but even then was still running poorly. Looks like a fuel problem. Hope the carb kit and new fuel line fixes it!

My 026 Running Issues...possible air leak?

Great info, thanks. I have the carb off and fuel line/filter out and off. The fuel line broke when I pulled on it, so I'm sure it's time for a new one. I'll get a carb kit Monday along w/ a new fuel line. Next question: What is the yellow wire for going to the switch area? Black seems to...

My 026 Running Issues...possible air leak?

Where is the breather located? Same as the fuel tank vent? It has tons of compression, but I'll check the piston today (although I don't really know what a normal vs. scored piston looks like)

My 026 Running Issues...possible air leak?

Thanks for the replies. It seems to idle ok, just runs for a little bit, then bogs down and dies suddenly when I get on the throttle. The leak that I heard was coming from the bottom of the black gas tank lid, but was a very small leak, so if that's the vent, I guess it's ok. I have not done...

My 026 Running Issues...possible air leak?

Well, my 026 is acting up now. I ran it yesterday for several hours of clearing some massive pine trees. It ran good for a while, then sputtered out and died. I filled the gas tank up and was able to cut for another few mins before it died again. Initially I thought the fuel filter was out...

    Stihl 026 Issues

Thanks for the help. I live a couple hours away so I'll have him stop by a shop to look into the possible leak. Makes sense, didn't even cross my mind!

    Stihl 026 Issues

A buddy of mine has an 026 that used to run great. I opened the muffler and tuned the carb as I have on my 026 and per instructions that are somewhere on this site. So he has used the heck out of the saw as a weekend project saw. I'll admit it has had a fairly rough life in the back of his...

    Black Cherry

thanks for the help guys. Looks like i'll cut it up this weekend for the ole' smoker. If it seems nice inside, I may save a couple lengths of the good portion of the trunk and ask around for possible local buyers. Thanks again

    Black Cherry

So My dad and I found a rather large Black Cherry blown over from a storm. It's on our property in the middle of National Forrest land. Trunk is straight, few limbs. I didn't measure the bottom, but would guess diameter to be at least a couple feet, maybe a bit more. Any ideas what 4 8'...

What kind of grass is this??

Any sprays that will kill it but not they zoysia? I've read that you can mix up a soapy, borax mixture that will kill it, but was wondering if anybody knew of a better chemical.

What kind of grass is this??

I know it's not St. Augustine, Zoysia, Bermuda, or "crabgrass"...Based on reading online, I think it's some type of carpet grass, possibly Centipede grass? Any other takers?

What kind of grass is this??

My grandma has had a wonderful zoysia lawn for many years...In the past few years, something has taken over her front yard and I don't know what it it or how to get rid of it...It's some kind of creeping grass, grows in shoots. Medium course leaves, dark green in summertime. I'll try to attach...

    Squirrels

If you're anywhere that "quiet" ammo is needed...Check out .22 Colibri. Made in Mexico by Aquila, a company that is 80% owned by Remington. The "Super Colibri" is a powderless 20 grain bullet that is proppelled by a hot elly primer. It shoots about 500 f/s. Makes virtually no noise. It's not...

Leaf blower, lot more useful than just blowing leafs

Don't know if anybody's mentioned it or not...but I've used the ole' stihl several times to start stubborn brush fires. Works wonders, even in the rain! Sure does help get things going!

How many of you deal with backpain?

Advil, Advil, Advil...I've tried it all, Celebrex, Tylenol, Asprin, etc. Advil is a wonder drug. I've tried to lay off so I'm not taking it litterally every day, but when I need it, sure does help

    ATV skidder

If I'm not mistaken, Arctic Cat uses either Suzuki or Kawasaki engines. I haven't done and research, but I'm pretty sure that's right. Eng is great on Cats, I had a buddy that tried to cross a ditch the day after spending $7400 on a new cat...didn't make it. After a few oil changes and clean...

Who has the most miles on their car?

165k on tires? Haven't checked in for a while, just reading over some old posts... 165k miles on one set of tires on 4x4 jeep? Come-on, I wasn't born yesterday. That's good that you got so many miles out of a Jeep, not very typical. What kind of tires are you running? Must have bought...

    How about some stuck pictures!

Not near as cool as others, but here my 96' tacoma burried up after getting 32x11.50 mudders put on...I thought I was unstopable until I sank in this harmless field. I wish I had some pics of the stuff I have been through w/o getting stuck, She's been a good truck, and yes, that's a Stihl in...

Who's Making The Best Half Ton Truck???

What are you smoking??? I want some! Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep are the most repair prone vehicles out there. I suppose if you always trade up before they get 80k miles on them, you might be ok, but in my mind, they are disposable vehicles. May as well throw them away at 80-100k miles. Ask some...
