    Black Friday 2012

Don't knock the Wild Thing...it's a pretty hot saw. Just takes several matches to get it lit...helps if the tanks are full

Dolmar/makita/Solo won't start after hot. Please help

It was mentioned before that someone suspected the Low Smoke Husqvarna oil might have something to do with this? I don't see how it could, BUT...I ran my 7900 hard all day last Sunday. Ran it out of gas a couple of times. Never took more than two pulls to restart. Back when I was having problems...

    Black Friday 2012

Black Friday = stay home. You could not kill me and drag my dead body shopping on that day. I have to deal with that one rude, pushy a$$ that's looking back at me from the mirror every morning...no way I could deal with a store full of them :hmm3grin2orange:

What did you do this weekend?

Spent Saturday morning getting hog feed, then bush hogged until about 5, then cut up a trailer load of old power poles into fence posts. Spent Sunday at my in laws cutting up, splitting, and stacking a huge old pecan tree that blew over. Got a big bowl of homemade chili out of the deal and they...

    Firewood saws

If it's bigger than about 18" diameter, I use the Dolmar 7900. Anything smaller if I'm cutting firewood, the Stihl 028 WB. For trimming up around the house and as the all around, backup, go to, everything else is torn up saw...I pick up grandpa's old Mac 10-10 because it always runs.

    .404 chain, 0.050 gauge?

One possible solution would be to buy a .063g bar?

What does the Echo "death rattle" sound like?

My "Echo" was a John Deere 66SV...you know...that crappy, overweight, underpowered twin that Echo made with the undersized crank and all sorts of other design problems. Problem was, I didn't know about all these horrible shortcomings when I had it. So, I ran the hell out of it for 5 years...

Dolmar/makita/Solo won't start after hot. Please help

Hmm...I had some of that Husky Low Smoke oil at one time, but I can't remember if it was when I was having a lot of trouble with my 7900 starting. I've been using Stihl synthetic for a while and haven't had a problem. I would never have thought the oil would have made a difference...

    It followed me home...

I work 50 hours a week, have three children still at home, and am taking 6 college classes this semester. Tinkering around with my saws is the only de-stressing I get. I have a few old tractors, but can't really afford to play with those until the wife is done with her master's degree and finds...

    It followed me home...

So I stopped at the local Ace Hardware after work to pick up some gate hinges. Perfectly innocent errand...no malicious intent...no ulterior motives lurking in the shadows. I overheard the cashier asking another employee for a ride home because he had to walk to work as he had no money left for...

Buying a bar for a McCulloch

Great info...I like the idea of buying a more readily available Husky bar and doing a little milling and drilling. To take it a step further, I was told by the local Stihl dealer that my 660 had a .404 chain and that it was likely a .050 gauge chain...I haven't pulled it to check yet. He said he...

    Mac 660 is here!

Picked up a 1-72 while ago :D It may donate parts to the 1-81. Or maybe the 1-81 will donate to it. I see a resurrected yellow saw of some sort rising from this pile of ashes though.

    Mac 660 is here!

The Mac 660 I bought on Ebay showed up today. It's in great condition for its age. TONS of compression, hot blue spark, and the piston looks like brand new on the exhaust side. It came with a 32" bar that needs replacement and a chain that looks like it has hardly been used. I'm going to get a...

How long do you guys let your projects sit?

It's directly proportional to the amount of money that can be diverted to the project. My John Deere 140 has been sitting in the shed, waiting patiently on me, for 2+ years. Too many ideas, too little time/money/ect...

    Public Service: Break =/= Brake

While we're on the subject, "sale" and "sell" are two words that are commonly misused. I see things on Craigslist "for sell" all the time. If it isn't that, then someone wants to "sale" something. I have even found it spelled "sail" a few times.

    Echo 610 EVL

I can't complain about mine. I cut firewood with it for 5 years. It was a little on the heavy side, but very reliable. I only sold it because I discovered it was worth something to as a collector's piece and I wanted a new saw.

    Echo 610 EVL

I sold a John Deere 66SV on Ebay a couple of years ago for $350.00.

    Loaning your saws out

I don't loan mine out either...saws or other tools. I let my neighbor borrow my Stihl weedeater once. It came back straight gassed and he never said a word about it. If a friend has a need for a saw, I'll go to their house and do the cutting. If they are cutting firewood, they should become a...
