    Check this bad boy out.

That monster sure makes my MSE220 look weak. But that monster also makes an 090 look featherweight.

Lets do a SugiHara bar blowout!

Is it just me or does anbody else want a 18" .325 .050 bar. Thats the perfect size for my 346 and 026. Just a bit more reach for limbing than a 16" and it balances perfect in either saw.

    Stihl 044 10mm vs 12mm

Yes they sound different and cut noticebly different. I have an early 12mm that cuts and sounds like a 10mm.

    Stihl vs. Dolmar...

5 minutes.run time wouldn't even get a decent size tree down. And if you think a 066 is bad try a ported 880 or a 090. If you want fuel.economy try a Mac 125, it uses less.than half the fuel.of an 880 and will do more work.at less RPM.

    038 magnum or 041 super

I've run both with 28" bars and the 038 mag wins hands down. In fact the 038 mag isn't far behind an 044 in performance. The 041 super has torque but way less speed and seems heavier.

Well two more 166's are headed your way Lee.

    should i or shouldn't i

Well I was considering something like you are too. I wanted a BP655 but think a ported 395 or 661would be a lot more practical than a collector saw. Since I tend to use my saws, I'm in the process of getting rid of the hard to find parts saws I have. The only older ones I'm gonna keep are the...

Does the # of Guide Bar Sprocket Teeth Matter?

The wider nose is for doing a lot of plunge cutting. Some of the bars also have 13 teeth on the sprocket. Also for some to note, the bars used on the 201 have more teeth and wider nose than the ones used on the 192.

    stihl fuel injection?

No 460 M tronic but there is the 441M and maybe a future 461. A Stihl dealer in Wa. Had indicated the 500's had fuel pump delivery issues, however that may have been on the earlier models.

    Need Quick MAC ID help!

The flat side of the fuel tank by the clutch looks like it may be a super tank.

    372XT or 576 or 576AT

Thanks guys, the 390 being true xp and not xt would make me preffer it to either a 372xt or 576. Besides a 390 balances a lot better with a 32" bar than a 372.

Best Way to Hold a Saw While Tuning?

The best way to tune is in the wood. If you have a big saw with a long bar, you must have big wood to use it on so tune it then. I tuned my 090 with 96" bar in 7 ft. of old growth stump. That was fun, and it worked quite well. Its a lot easier than you think as the wood holds the saw for you.

    372XT or 576 or 576AT

I had a quick question relevant to this thread. Does the 390 have porting like the old 372xp or is it the new xt porting?

Cordless Chainsaws and Outdoor Power Equipment

Neither was I impressed till I removed the limiter caps and retuned it. Now my FS81R is a very different machine. I'd say it gained at least 40% as I wanted to get rid of it before.

Cordless Chainsaws and Outdoor Power Equipment

Wow, the stongest trimmer Stihl sells? Guess I'll have to dump my HS81R for a battery unit.

    The mythical MS640..

Unless its truly mythical, no flippy caps says its an 064.

Ms260 with 24" bar and chain cutting tree on youtube

A couple of years ago at the Steamup in Brooks Oregon, there was a guy cutting firewood fot the saw boiler and he was using an 026 with 24" bar and it was cutting 12- 20 inch wood surprisingly well. I don't know how and wouldn't have believed it, but I saw it being done.

    066 vs. 064

My 1986 vintage 064 was the same.weight as my 460 but had less RPM. It had torque like my 066 but again, less RPM. And it was not a red light. Also opening up the muffler cover added no gains. I think those saws are best with 32" bars as smaller bars seem better suited to the 046/460's higher...

Best smelling fuel oil (Least odor)

Well to this man's senses, NITOMETHANE is the best smelling fuel. And the higher the percentage the better. Tip the can and run 95+ percent. But it does have a bit of a strong odor. Nothing a good respirator won't fix. Racing gas has the next best odor.
