The sound you hear is known as piston slap. It is from a udersized piston or a oversized cylinder. Years ago Echo had a recall on there 50cc saws for that very reason.
I would suggest a Husqvarna 545 it's the most bang for the buck. Same power and weight as a 550xp only less money. You will not be disappointed. I got mine for $430 shipped.
4Lane when you purchase the ms 261 make sure it is the 2016 model or newer. They are lighter weight and have more H.P. than the previous model. I just bought a ms 261 non-mtronic could not be happier more power than my husky 545 or my echo cs 520. There are a couple of Stihl dealers in my area...
I recently purchased a near mint cs 520 and would like to do a muffler mod. However i can not find much info on the procedure. I would greatly appreciate pictures and info on the mod. Thanks Ron
I purchased a 545 Husqvarna last year (2014 model) and was having similiar problems with the saw from day one thru break-in and in the field. I took it to the local Husqvarna dealer and he did not have a clue what the problem was. After that the powerhead was returned to Baileys online where I...
I have got two compression gauges the first reading was taking with a adapter the second was with a push and hold type gauge both gave the same reading 100lbs.
I check the compression on all my saws when nearly new 7-10 tanks of fuel this way i can tell when the saw is getting tired and perhaps a need for a rebuild.
I recently purchased a Husqvarna 545 well after about 10 hrs or 7 tanks of fuel the compression reads 100 lbs. I thought this was a little on the low side so i called Huaqvarna got nowear. Next i called baileys and they informed me that 110-120lbs is normal . Any thoughts on this? My Echo cs600...
I recently purchased a new echo chainsaw on line. It was missing the owners manual so i called echo to get one coming and during the conversation with cus omer sevice i come to find out that you have no warranty unless you purchase the saw from an authorized dealer such as (home depot). To say...
I am considering buying a stihl ms280. The local dealer quoted me a really good price. $449.00 w/ a 18' bar. I would like to hear opinions both pro and con on these saws. thanks Ron
I am going to puchase a new mid range saw 55-60cc. It has boiled down to echo cs600p,efco 156,husqvarna 359, Can somebody give me some input on the pros and cons of the three saws. also might consider a stihl ms290 or a husky 455 rancher.
I recently purchased a 346xp e-tech saw. Ive run about 10 tanks thru it and put on a non cat muffler. My question is everything i have read on this form tells me i need to richen up the jetting . However after the muffler swap i had to lean out both high and low speed jets. The saw would not...
break in time for husqvarna
The operators manual says nothing about max rpm. Quote avoid running at a high speed for extended periods of during first 10 hours.
I need to adjust my carb on my 346xp it is set full rich on the limeters. How many tanks of fuel should i run thru it before i lean it out? It is 13,000 rpm full throttle now.
To cat or not to cat?
I recently purchased a new husqvarna 346xp E-tECH. The question i have is this does it pay to install a non cat muffler? Are the HP gains worth the time and money?
