    Joystick troubles on bucket

Joystick fun Welp, that didn't work. I can't seem to get any action or sound at all when I pull the safety trigger on the joystick. I tried a temporary vacuum hose with no luck. When I pull the trigger I can feel a push of air coming out which should enable the stick. Wonder how to check...

    Joystick troubles on bucket

Photos Maybe these will help a bit. Here you can see the short piece of tube i tried to patch. Also, there is a filler-type square plug on the joystick housing and also a wing-nut type knob on each side of each of the 3 lower control levers on the truck. I assume these are where you'd bleed...

    Joystick troubles on bucket

Re: tubing Matter of fact, the new tubing is slightly thinner (so slightly larger i.d.) and a bit more flexible. The existing tubing is so firm it feels brittle...and I'm sure it is. The new tubing is rated at 175psi...right off the Ace Hardware store shelf. Again tho, I only replaced a 3"...

    Joystick troubles on bucket

Trying to fix the joystick controls on my Hi-Ranger 52pbi....not sure what I am doing. The other day, the lower boom would not operate with the joystick, just the upper. Also, the boom will work fine with the lower controls, but now started working without the safety button being...

    Removing large trunk

Got er done Got a bigger saw. All done. Thanks for those comments that were helpful and actually pertained to my question. The rest of you should be out working instead of putting down newbies who are trying to learn in the 101 section. If some of you spent as much time working and...

    Removing large trunk

Yes, it's 5' diameter up to about 15', then the limbs separate into multiple trunks and are manageable with my 20" Apple coring, Yep, works for beavers, exactly what I was thinking. I will use my bucket truck for the tree itself, it's a good 50-60' foot tall. No problems there. I agree...

    Removing large trunk

I meant that I'd use my 20" bar and take wedges out of the base until I can reach through to make a felling cut. It resembles an apple core..I guess I made it up. I thought it was official jargon.

    Removing large trunk

I am planning an upcoming removal of a big Cottonwood tree and it all looks manageable except the trunk. I'm not sure how to deal with the trunk, it's about 5' plus diameter and a good 15' tall. I'm guessing a nice long bar to make the cuts and a crane or a big loader would be the way to go...

    Sales Guy

I have a retired sales guy who I am talking to re: becoming a commissioned salesman for my business. I am trying to figure out what a typical/reasonable commission % might be and what that is based upon? I tossed out 15%-20% just as a negotiating point and he countered that he wants 33% of...

    Chipper not charging -

Ok, doesn't have anything to do with the cables, just replaced them. Guess I replace the regulator next?

    Chipper not charging -

I suspect the cables more than anything. They can hardly draw enough current to turn the starter from a brand new battery. I used jumper cables the other day just to get a good + and - connection. Maybe the resistance is so high on the cables that the small charging current can't get through...

    Chipper not charging -

I just replaced the alternator on my chipper (Fitchburg 6-cyl). It is still not charging the battery. I think the problem is with the ammeter. For a quick fix, couldn't I just run a cable from the + on the battery directly to the output on the alternator? P.S. It is an old style alternator...

    Promark chipper parts

Mine had a Honda 24hhp engine which replaced the Kohler... I also used M&B for parts. They were always very helpful.

    Promark chipper parts

Promark CT-2 I had that same unit a few years ago. I wish I had never sold it, it was awesome for a 25hp chipper. That dump box was great as well. Handiest dang thing I ever had. You can swing the feed table to any direction. 6" hydraulic disc chipper with feed and reverse was very nice...

What do you think of this hoist?

Thank you VERY much for that advice. I have a few better photos here with the unit plugged into the receiver. I simply held it up for the photo with a small winch strap tied to the bedrail hooks....but I assumed i'd need a chain to secure it both UP and DOWN. I just put it up on craigslist...

What do you think of this hoist?

An old buddy left this hoist behind a few years ago and I'm still trying to figure out how it would be better than a bed mounted crane hoist? He sure seemed to think it was the 'shiznit'. I don't see a whole lot of use for it besides loading big wood into a trailer and maybe into the truck bed...

    Driving with PTO engaged...whoops.

I'm surprised I haven't done it until just the other day. I left the pto engaged the other day on my boom truck/chip dump after using the boom and drove it about 10miles before I figured out why it sounded and felt so funny going down the road. Can you damage your hydraulic pump or blow your...

Crabapple as good/same as apple for smoking?

Seems to be decent smelling wood to me. We have tons and tons of crabapple trees and I find myself with the wood quite often. Any opinions as to whether it's the same as applewood on the smoker? I just began my foray into small-time smoking with a Brinkmann at home.
