If you had to pick one, 440 or 046?

I would keep both. I own 2 046 and 1 044. Personally I prefer the 046. In your case, it depends what is worth more to you, having a newer saw or a little more money. I feel the 046 pulls a bigger bar a little better than the 044. If your only pulling a 25 or less you won't see much...

Keep the 362 and get both the 461 and 660. :greenchainsaw:

Stihl 046 Revs hard when starting, then dies

The 046 has not been made in 13 years. I would guess it has more than a few years on it.

    advice on a new/used chainsaw

Not everyone needs a pro saw. Sounds to me like you would be well served with a Stihl 290 or Husky 455. A newer 50cc pro saw would do what you need. If you are not going to need anything past what you have, rent a Makita from your local home depot. There is a lot of "Tim Allen" mentality...

    One saw plan

46 for me with a 25 and a 32. Probably the closest to a do it all saw I have run. Imo, you would have to go around 70cc. Too far either way and you deal with weight or power considerations.

    Dolmar 5105 questions.

It isn't going to be worth it to have your dealer fix it. They usually don't try to salvage p/c, they just replace with oem. Rebuild it yourself or sell it and put that toward a new saw.

    Stihl ms441 vs. ms460

Maybe its the camera angle, but that doesn't look like a 32" bar to me. Not knocking the 441m though. Definately a great saw in the 70cc class.

Dolmar 510 vs Echo 500 vs Stihl 290

The 5105 shouldn't be any more than 440 otd. Anymore is too much. Why not just spring for 261 or 346? At only 50 more than the 5105 it doesn't make sense not to.

    firewood saw

I always have at least 3 with me. Usually 2 046's and a 5105. covers the vast majority of what I get into.

    Which saw MS261 or MS391

What are you going to do with it? The 261 is built better but that doesn't mean it is worth 150 more to you. The 391 is a clam design with plastic case. Top line home owner saw. They have put plenty of wood on the ground and in the wood pile. They should both be pretty reliable if you take...

How much would you give for this saw?

I would do 2-300 without blinking. I probably would have already picked it up.

    stihl 046 big bore

If you decide to go after market, Baileys stands behind the products they sell. This is more than you can say for most of those kits on ebay and such.

    Lend out a saw ?

Might want to keep a beater around for a loaner/truck saw. I never "loan out" anything I'm going to miss.

Actually it was you. People asked again, I answered. It takes two. You ask I respond. It is that simple.

It actually started negative about the op having a problem with his saw. It only resurfaced when he got it fixed. You didn't read the whole thread did you?

You need to reread the whole thread. Sorry to the op if I offended and sorry you got your feelings hurt.

New Dolmar 5105 carb needles pluged.

Thanks for letting me know where not to go. Everyone stirs the pot from time to time, even you. I did make my own decision based upon what I felt was best. They made their decision based on what they thought was best. I am not disputing that. Bottom line is the saw is a dog plain and...

New Dolmar 5105 carb needles pluged.

lol, no I had a 5105. I am not sure what you are getting at. 70 to pay for labor for them to replace the carb was still like me buying a new carb on a saw that was only a couple months old. Then they still hit me for 30 bucks to get it back. I guess you would be fine with paying for that...
