Neighbor wants to me to pay half to remove property line tree

Sounds complicated...Here in cali.if the tree straddles the property line,it's considered ''community property'',.Both parties have to agree on work to be done.If he wants the tree down and you don't...could go legal.Sounds like there are root damage issues on both properties..another issue.Good...

    Natural Gas Leak Killing Tree

One possibility....Natural gas contaminates the soil with methane, causing methane-consuming bacteria to multiply and suck up the oxygen in the soil. That interrupts the crucial exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between the soil and air, and carbon dioxide, methane and other components in...

170 foot Doug Fir dying from top down

Sounds like engraver beetle.Depending on your rainfall..(not enough)...could be drought coupled with beetle.Local foresty service might be able to ID the galleries or larvae.

    Is it a goner?

I agree call a professional.....He may suggest through bolting in several areas to stabilize the spars.Might even suggest reducing the greenery to lessen the chance of windthrow.Nice tree,,be a shame to lose it.

Japanese Maple: should I cut these branches

IMO?I think those two lower branches are ugly. They throw the rest of the tree out of proportion.Cut them now and they'll sprout, and when they do just rub them out with your fingers.Or wait till dormant season.

    Tree I'd

Got an english oak in my yard...generally 3to7 lobes on each side.,and shallow rounded.leaves are dark green above..bluish green below. Those leaves appear to be more deeply lobed. Are those basal sprouts from a stump?Pretty shrubby for a tree. There are different cultivated varieties so......You...

New Homeowner with Cottonwood Tree - holes in leaves

Looks like insect activity to me...cottonwood leaf beetle ? Check with your ag extension or local arborist.Don't know your location..If your in a warmer climate zone, might be a second gen. late summer/fall.

Should I hire this guy? (Pic)

Not only ugly..doesn't appear to be enough green to sustain the tree.Pretty hot down that way...Those trees die?grounds for a lawsuit.

    Mulch Question

That's a heap of compost!A good part of that pile has probably reached temps around 140degs.Hot enough to cook ''most ''pathogens, and kill most weed and grass seeds out of existence.I wouldn't worry too much.Might wait till the top few feet have been taken. The deeper stuff will be more composted.

What to do with this ?

It is a nice looking shrub.Appears to be some buildings in the background,so it may act as a visual barrier.But..if you want an unobstructed view of the background..your call.Or.. you could plant a few other shrub/sm trees to fill in the area for a more balanced look....

    questions about heart rot

We've worked red alder thru the yrs.Fast growing, like water and have a tendency to fall apart at an early age If the canopy is green and appears healthy and the bark looks solid..thats a good sign.Broken branches with a thin canopy could be trouble.Doesn't necessarily mean the tree iis...

    Liquid amber not dropping leaves

Mornin B....They grow good up here..quite a few in my area. What I've noticed thru the years is that trees in open areas (colder)lose their leaves. And those growing close to other trees/vegetation an closer to houses and other structures hang on to their leaves sometimes till spring.?????I'm...

    Oregon Ash + pruning questions

We all agree...Ideally you're going to want to cut only the damaged parts of the tree.... Never top a mature tree. I notice more than a few ash recruits in the area.Cleaning up the lower branching will make a bit of space for the recruits.Ash are fast growing.won't take long to fill the...
