    Modding tools

a trained ear. on non air injected saws if its revving smooth as glass its lean. you want that missing/burble/bark sound at max throttle. after a while you learn the ballance. its been a while since i have done an air injected saw but i tuned it rich like that also if i remember right.

i bought a truck that had the rear fuel tank messed with. somebody had put paint and antifreeze in the tank to get back at the last owner. truck is still down to only 1 tank right now heh. a side note on those cap locks, if its a honda or similar engine there is no room for a lock like that...

    MS260 Pro problem

if they did a proper setup that would have included an RPM check before they sent it out the door. making sure those saws are in spec is our job as Stihl dealers and mechanics before it gets out. as long as your chain is good, you are using good mix and fuel thats not more than 60-90 days old...

    Will a J-red 670 Cylinder work on a Husky 266 block?

you will need to use that impulse with the currect intake setup. the husky cyl has impulse drilled in the carb mounting block. the jred does not have that config. it will fit but you need the cyl carb and all the carb mounting setup to do it. i have boxes of 266 stuff that had a few jred 670s...

    Vermeer 935 Chipper fuel problem

check all filters, pull fuel line from carb and blow from disconnected end into tank, see if crud comes back out. try running with gas cap just sitting on. if you seal the cap down and it starts running bad your cap is not venting. replace. non venting cap is more common than you think. i fix...

    404 vs. 3/8

i run 3/8 on my 660. 3/8" on my race saws.. 404 will make a larger kerf, take a bit more HP to run, but yes it is the extreme duty way to go. when i used to mill with my old husky 288 3/8 did just fine, and i pushed it pretty hard. my old 026 race saw was turning 19,500 RPM with tuned pipe and...
