I just fired the stove up and will fill-r-up in a bit. Across the way I see other smoke signs from others doing the same. Ted

    Fire Extinguisher

I have a wood stove inside and have extingushers and Chimfex close by. One includes a 2.5 gal H2O I dont think they make any water agent to be stored outside. As for the "A" class rate a 10 lb ABC is (4) and some 5 pounders are (3). So other than the mess a good ten pounder sounds like the one...

    Hi-Lift Jacks for Downriggers?

I was reading this thread and will throw my two cents in. I would get two jackstands and put them under the end of the trailer at the corners. Then lower the hyd. out riggers to put preasure on the jackstands, thats it. I love my Hi-Lift but, I think they will get distroyed welded to the end of...

Muscles ya forgot ya had, and other stuff.

A cord down for you, I bucked a big white oak yesterday and used the tractor FEL to bring it to my pile. I'm fealing it today, with all the pollen in the air my head feals like it's in a jar. Sawing and moving all that wood makes my body feal like I got hit by a truck. You and I...

    Hoockaroon won't stick?

I have made a couple of hookaroons, the first was a test to see if I was going to like it. I have been using them even for rounds that I have to lift with two hands. The last few weeks I have been having trouble with the tip of the hoockroon coming out as I try to lift the round. I think it is...

    Cracked weld on woodstove....???

My stove is nothing like you have. With that in mind, I have welded mine at leased twice and after this burning season is over I will burn a few more rods in the old girl. I welded the window trim on my buddys stove (that was cast and the use of a nickel rod was in order). Mine is steel between...

    Cookie Rookie w/ vids

I did a muffler mod on my MS 290 this weekend. The saw is less than a year old and has had about two to three gallons of fuel through her. I got about a 10% to 15% faster cut time on the same piece of wood, same chain, same fuel batch, ect. The heat was reduced for sure, how much I can not tell...

    Splitting With a Grenade

Last straw When I have all my wedges (3) sunk in a round and still cant pry the round open or get the wedges out to stack them or get another bite. This is when I use my round cone style wedge. It is alst larger than my 16# sledge so I can hit the cone wedge below the surface of the wood and...

    Question PPE - Eyewear

I found these and they work great. Guardian Safety Glasses I get them at "Lab Safety" the 12$ ones are a bit heavy. The extra weight is for stronger frames, better hinges, and softer ear pieces. The 6$ ones are the ones I like most. They are so light I can wear them for a long time. I...

my MS290 rebuild, help with port timing please

So after watching the vids it is more about "smiles per gallon" than "miles per gallon". I don't think I will port it, just do a MM and re-tune after the warrantee is up. Ted
