    My First Flippy Cap Incident.....

I thought it was just me when I had gas dripping down my leg... LOL Glad to see others are in the same boat, however I really think STIHL should just keep the caps simple. Something that threads in with a thick seal and a nice handle would be all you need..:blob2:

    2 Stroke Flooding issues...

You are sure right on the damn ethanol crap. A chainsaw is one thing, but a boat is another beast when you are stuck on the water... Anyway, oddly enough Ethanol wasn't the issue here because it's been sitting since the "good old days". And really, like you said the metering valve is...

    2 Stroke Flooding issues...

Hello all, I apologize if this offends anyone as this mostly doesn't have to do with a chainsaw, but I like the technical expertise here and this problem is driving me nuts.. With that said... I have an older IDC(I believe that's Ryobi) Tiller. It has sat forever, so the fuel lines and...

what is a dependable small chainsaw for homeowner?

One of the best answers I have seen in the "Which saw is best threads" basically says this..... All the top brands are good, pick the one that has a dealer that is closest to you and you feel most comfortable with for service and warranty work , period.. All the major brands will serve you...

    GEEZ! found the circlip

Like you said, it's a cheap chain saw and one that you got to learn a lesson on, it's really no big deal and minus any extra money spent I am sure you won't do that again. **** happens, like the time I forgot to tighten the lug nuts on my truck and went for a test drive on the repair I had just...

What's your best excuse to go cut wood?

Don't need much of an excuse, besides it being fun. We cut every other weekend in the fall/winter and get to play all day on the ATV and tractor, leaving the cell phones in the truck and simply relaxing. It's more of a therapy thing than anything else. Also, after a hard day how can you beat a...

    Am I crazy or what?

Nah, 75 miles isn't bad. Makes for a cool day trip, and if you feel it was a good deal then it's good all around. I have done the same for XL-12 (new) parts, other craigslist stuff, and even a piece of software that was questionable to download..:blob3: :-)

    STIHL Chain question...

Thank you guys for all the replys, much appreciated... I did check the rakers and they were set with the STIHL tool. They were brought down a bit on the last sharpening. I have a feeling the overheating with the grinder may be an issue, it's the only thing I can think of. I try to be...

    STIHL Chain question...

Hello all... So I need some help with a STIHL Semi chisel 20 inch 3/8 non safety chain that is driving me crazy. I cut dead, sometimes dirty wood mostly and have always used the rapid, or full chisel version of this chain with great luck. Last year I purchased the Semi thinking I should get...

    Never thought I'd do it.

The white and Red cedar trees grow like weeds around my area too. I grew up going in the woods, finding a good straight tree and making flag/light poles, or grabbing a red to cut the centers out and using them in the closets. Great trees for all sorts of cool stuff...

    Ever see one of these?

That's a neat looking old saw. I like the chip "discharge" port....:blob3:

My Saw "collection" (need some ID help, please)

Nice collection, if your interested in selling I hope you make a few bucks...:msp_thumbup: I do like the plywood/chipboard subwoofer box, got a laugh out of that one...

    Muffler Modding Stihl 390.

Some pics would be awesome as I have a 310 that I've been wanting to do the mod too and give it more umph. Let us know how it works out for ya..

    Using a file guide/holder

I have the STIHL file guide kit, and use it if I need to touch up the chain in the woods. I usually use my Northern 511 style grinder in the shop which is amazing. I noticed when I come out with a fresh sharpened full chisel chain it will last quite a while before I need to either change chains...

    Chainsaw photography

Here are a few wood splitting pics done with an Olympus E-450. Not a bad camera, but I don't like the noise the "four thirds" lens system gives me, especially at night..

    Chainsaw photography

This is proof that a good, crazy priced lens is worth its weight. What an awesome picture. BTW What were your settings on the camera? I'm assuming your aperture was set low due to the perfect fuzzed background..

Just inherited a Homelite Super EZ, questions

That's a cool looking saw. Although I don't own one of those models, I do own a few XL-12's. These machines were built well and things don't wear out easily, but things do go bad and finding parts isn't easy. I suggest that at your leisure scour ebay and craigslist for parts. Many old saw shops...

I hope this isn't anyone here

Would you rather be the kid of a Dad who teaches you how to be useful, and a man in life, or one that does this to ya..... :taped: No but seriously, I myself just had my 3.5 Y/O Girl using my STIHL. I did however have her put my helmet and ear protection on, and I had a small log lined...

    It's was a Dumb A** Moment

Not chainsaw related but dangerous and the dumbest of all... So after 6 hours of replacing the front Hub bearings and brakes on my Ram, which was not easy because the upper ball joints and steering arms needed to be seperated, I finally got everything back together. On my test drive I heard...
