    Depends where you are.

Slag never breaks down. If you get the right mix it's great stuff. This was a slag pile at the mill I work at. When I built my shop at my old house this is the drive we installed for it. Heavy base. Top dressing.

Ahh yes, lots of slag around me. 2 steel mills within 30 minutes so it's used everywhere around here for driveways, road berms, etc...

Oh yeah, lots of times. I don't think I'd ever leave one alone though!

Old timers would put a tractor on blocks and ratchet strap a fuel tank full of steel shot to the drive wheel. Just make sure to block the wheels good in case she comes down.

    The Perfect Gas Can…

I have a 5-gallon No Spill and the tank halves at the top handle split so it leaks fuel. It lasted 2 years before doing so.

Pressure is set by the relief in the valve so the system is still seeing the same pressure as before unless you guys messed with the relief. Not to overplay it or anything but I'd be nervous too. Nobody can say if or when the fitting will fail but it is a ticking time bomb, nonetheless. I...

The control valve is NPT, not a flared fitting. As stated above, NPTF fittings will work in NPT so yes, a 3/4" NPTF street tee will work. 👍

I let it go all over the saw. It's like a billy goat pissing all over himself to let all the ladies know he's in the house. The saw is letting the trees know who's boss.

Not usually, but some do. Most have flats on them so you can tighten them with a wrench. Farm stores usually have them in their hydraulics section. John Deere dealerships and NAPA auto parts stores usually have them since they make hoses. Like this...

    I would for sure, it's a $20 fitting.

Care to share how you did that?

That's right, the return line and fittings between the control valve and the tank are low pressure which is why they are usually plumbed with push fittings and hose clamps. Other lines and fittings should be pressure rated threaded fittings. The street elbow coming off his pump pressure port...

@MechanicMatt I don't mean to be nosy and tell you your business, but is that a pressure rated street elbow at your pump pressure port? Otherwise it looks like it'll all work fine.

Well I was hoping it was just a sheared woodruff key. It doesn't take a large air leak to cause issues in a hydraulic system but that's usually the case when you have an airleak at the pump case halves or pump seal. The oil in the tank should provide enough head pressure to keep from sucking...

Which brand and model? OWBs will definitely burn wet wood but will do so at absolutely horrible efficiencies. I like cutting firewood but what I like even more is using as much of those BTU's being converted into heat for my living space and not for boiling off wet wood so it too can "burn"...

I've never cut an elm that didn't blow into a billion pieces upon impact. :) Don't think I've ever seen a black locust either. The place is really opening up there. Momma going to be happy to have that orchard eh!

It wouldn't surprise me if you find your woodruff key to be sheared since the coupling insert is gone. Without the insert cushioning the coupling, when you shut the engine down or start it up, there's nothing to cushion the fingers from slamming into each other. Also, every power stroke of the...
