What model of Sthil 661 ?

Thank for your advise, my Stihl rep is talking very higly of the Artic feature (advanced hitech elcetronic kicking in only when needed, etc...) On a personal note i rather go low tech (for me it's a garanty of less problem...)

What model of Sthil 661 ?

Looking for advises! I do a lot of work with an alaska chainsaw mill (wood cookies, live slab / furniture related project... but not my full time job) I was using a 461MS, great saw, but a bit light on cc (36" bar with Oregon ripping chain) I'm looking for a 90cc or plus, thinking of the...

    Anti freeze? Loose handle?

My Huskvarna maul seem's to have a bad case of a loose handle. The handle is about 3 years old, haven been damage. But the heavy steel head might be one of the reasons why it became a bit loose? I usually let it soak in water for 24 hours, but I have read to soak it in antifreeze? It...

    --------BEFORE CHAINSAWS-----firewood

A couple of years ago, I spent two years in French Polynésia (Gambier) , even for a warm climate, you need wood! Perhaps 3 or 4 chainsaw for the whole island and 400 people. Those chainsaw were not very well maintained, and when you cut down a palm tree, it's like hitting dirt, so local...

35 or 31 inches for a felling axe?

Many thanks everybody for the feedback & advice! I did place the order for a 35 inches handle. I love my TimberWolf T1, but during wintertime at minus 20C I just love splitting with a maul, and in the same mind frame, cutting down a 10-12 inches tree with a feeling axe just great! I...

Seeking advice! I'm turning 50 this year; my two girls want to give me a splendid gift: a Gransford felling axe! But there are two length available for the handle, 31 or 35 inches? I'm 6'2'' 200lbs. What would be your recommendation...

    Stihl/Pferd EZ-file

Yep, better job for me! I bought it it about a month ago, an absolute great tool! With the Tiberline, I could see that my filing wasn't very accurate! 28 or 32 degree... But with the new Stihl file, very close to 30, and the racker - just great. The thing is, I got Timberline first then...

    why would i need a 362 stihl

I just got a 461, but I still use my 362, a bit lighter; with a 20 inches bar, you don't have to bent to cut off branches; your back doesn't hurt after 30 minutes. It will handle a long bar, without being heavy... Why??? Because it has a niche by itself... Nice to have...
