If it starts getting over 150deg the fluid starts to break down.Over 125deg can cause burns in a short time so if its near 150 its gonna feel hot to the touch.

If you tear into it deeper you might find what came apart and got sucked in the cylinder originated in the crank case.

I think before you invest in more equipment you need to invest in a shot gun. Also if you have the time visit your local pawn shops you might find your stuff.

If it has a suction filter inside the tank remove it and check it out.Mine was clogged and the pump was making noise.
