    My guess is Red Maple, it usually has a red tint to it.

    Swamp Ash:eek:. Was that thick bark on larger Ash trees or is it the location that plays a factor into the tree having a thicker bark?

    How about the red tint in the wood? I don't recall ever seeing Ash with that coloring, also the furrows in the bark are too deep.

    Not Ash the bark is too thick & the grain is not right.

    This is a tree that was girdled by loggers over 5 years ago and looks like it could stand another five.

    I do it at home because my trails are too tight to tow the splitter, also I won't load the rounds on to my pickup unless I have time to split it as I off load it.

    Even the bark looks wrong for Sugar Maple, some kind of soft Maple maybe.

    Definitely not Sugar Maple, leaf doesn't look right.
