    blew up a steering box........

Good news, this works, got it together yesterday. 1 2.5" cylinder 10" long, char lynn box off a 300 massey combine, and a flow control valve, some plumbing, and it will turn the wheels lock to lock at an idle. May have to change the flow control for one with an adjustable pressure relief (I can...

    blew up a steering box........

Thanks, I'll have a look. Found out the massey unit (Char Lynn) will run at 2500 pounds, haven't found out volume yet. Did some math on how much push I get out of how big a cylinder, but don't know how much I need. Looks like I can use the pump I have with the char lynn controller, just need a...

    blew up a steering box........

slightly off topic, shepard sterring box on a 1960 champion road grader. Have had trouble for years , traced it to a poor pump. Should deadhead the steering at about 1100 pounds, couldn't get it past about 300 on a good day. worked okay hot, couldn't steer it cold. Mounted another pump I had...

048, 038 in local farm consignment sale tomorrow

Anybody tell me anything about an 048 ? all I know is what's on Mike Acres site, never seen one in the flesh before. Both saws don't look too bad and have good compression. Don't need either one, but you know how it goes....

    What was your worst injury?

I feel your pain. Fell off a truckload of hay, about 12 feet down.(30 years ago) Landed on my feet(on concrete) but ended up flat on the ground. x-ray of the heel was so bad they had to operate to figure out what to do with it. Waited a week or so in the hospital for the swelling to go down...

    Allergies

He's right, get it figured out. I have a ragweed allergy that almost put me in the hospital due to breathing problems (prednesone kept me out). Wound up taking desensitization shots for a long time , maybe once a week for a year? Still have a little bit of reaction when it's pollenating, but...

Need Help: Need Member In Port Huron

You can get Baileys to ship direct into Canada......... OR you can do the PO box thing in Port Huron. I have a neighbor that does. I'm about an hour from the bridge (on the canadian side), or an hour and a half from Detroit. I've even got a brother that does the cross border thing every day...

    I saw it on Ebay/Craigslist

Yup. Showed me the 066 "stock appearing" race saw he's got for sale too. Working on it together?? I was all eyes and ears, not too much hands on. He did the work! saw runs great. Told me how much and where to port it, (and the same for my 064). Wants me to bring back the 64 when we're done...

Do I need to junk my saw? (034 super)

Changed my mind about a patch job and started looking for a case. Found a guy with a bunch of parts, mostly larger stuff, but he had an 034 case. Name is Dave Ellis, used to work for Stihl up here. Guess he trained techies......... Went to pick up the case on saturday, got there and shot the...

Do I need to junk my saw? (034 super)

B200, sounds like what I had in the back of my head would be your approach too. Got a buddy that's a pretyy good machinist. May have to put the saw in the mill to get a flat surface where it broke...... We'll see what works when I get at it. May do this approach and then a big smear of JB to...

Do I need to junk my saw? (034 super)

I know the right way is to put a new case half on it, but going to try to fix it somehow. The hole does line up with the muffler. Just wondered if someone else had been down this road. Already thought about a longer pin and JB weld, but there's an awful lot of pressure on the springs on this...

Do I need to junk my saw? (034 super)

If you look at the picture, you'll see a silver spot above the pivot for the chain brake. The whole thing is supposed to be on that spot, the casting is broken. That casting is the crankcase as far as I can tell....

Do I need to junk my saw? (034 super)

I was up at a buddy's cottage last week, and was giving him a hand with a few things as a thank you. Part of the week was a bunch of trimming so we could replace a roof on a shed near the beach. My 034 suddenly jammed up on the chain brake. Had brought a couple other saws, so we finished the...

    My new free saw!!!!!

Newer ones are efco, like the man said. I think the older ones were echo, so everyone's right. I think that number is an efco saw, but I stand to be corrected.

    Sore Losers

One thing I know about contract law, there's no deal without "valuable consideration". In other words, no cash changes hands, there never was a deal. Got my firesuit on...............:givebeer:

026 Baffle in the air filter

Are you talking about the choke? There's no choke in the carb on an 026, it's in the filter and is activated by the lever if everything is put together right.

    Husky 61 question??

How long have these things been around? How many part changes? Just went through 2 saws to make one. Nieghbour got a saw in pieces given to him a while ago. Needed a piston and rings (at least), could have been straight gassed or an air leak, not sure. Found another running 61 last weekend at a...

how man here free hand sharpen theyre chains

I hand file unless I've got a real mess on my hands.Got a good deal on a grinder a few years back, and it came in handy when the 4 foot bar I got for my 084 came with three .404 chains that were a real mess. Took a while on the grinder, would have taken forever with a file and probably wrecked a...
