    Homelite xl 12 coil

Well now it doesn't work. Let it set over night and it wouldn't hit a lick. Took the coil back off and baked it again. After it cooled I put rtv around the coil wire to help seal it off. Still doesn't start. I'm going to just put a points style coil and bracket in it with a Nova module...

    Homelite xl 12 coil

I put it in the oven and baked it for about 10 minutes last night. I put it back on today but before I tried it I clipped about a 1/2" off the end of the spark plug wire and reinserted the end for the plug. The saw now works! So I don't know which it was possibly the end for the plug or...

    Homelite xl 12 coil

You talking about the points type? The one I have has no points. I guess I could convert it back to points and use a electronic conversion setup to get rid of the points.

    Homelite xl 12 coil

Is the Homelite xl and xl 12 parts interchangable (flywheel and coil)? Found a cheap one that runs I could use for parts.

    Homelite xl 12 coil

A guy at work has a homelite xl 12 that he needed to get going again. I got it running and was going to check how it was going to cut before giving it back to him. Went out to start it and no start. Not getting spark. The replacement coils are quite expensive that I find on the internet...

    mcculloch power mac 6 chian

Thanks for the replys. There is only one place in town that I know of that has chain to make a new one. Last one I bought cost me more than the saw did. The saw take a 12" tp 16" bar. I measured the bar from tip to the front of the saw and got 14" Does that make it a 14"? Guess when...

    mcculloch power mac 6 chian

I picked up a power mac 6 chainsaw today at an auction. Does anyone off hand know what size chain it takes and the cheapest place to pick one up at. I'm not talking about how many drive links but the cutter and width sizes.

This the biggest homelite chainsaw made?

You seen it listed on craiglist too? I don't need another saw. I have 4 already and only use 2 of them. There I talked myself out of it.

This the biggest homelite chainsaw made?

Would $75 be a good price for a running xp 1020? I don't really need another saw but wanted to know about what a good price was for vintage homelites.

    066 cylinder scored, piston toast

blsnelling - The limiter tab has to be lined up with the little notch in order to pull them off. Blsnelling, not sure I follow you on removing the limiter cap. These are just little red caps with a slot for the screw driver, don't see a tab sticking out or anything like that. I don't have...

    066 cylinder scored, piston toast

Iit is alive! Got it all back together today with the exception of the bar and chain. Mixed up some gas at 40 - 1, about a half a tank. Had to pull the rope a number of times before it fired up (the carb and tank was dry). Shut the choke off and it started and stayed running. I only left it...

Remington Mighty Mite... labeled as a Monkey Wards

You run it at 80 to 1 gas mix? The cap on mine says 16 -1 gas mix. When I first tried to start mine I used lawnboy mix at 32 - 1 and it ran hot. Only way I could keep it running right was to mix it 16 - 1. What type of oil are you useing?

    066 cylinder scored, piston toast

That's what I did, use the acid then use fine sand paper with water and dish soap. Just got my new piston yesterday. Have to clean up the saw itself and check clearance before finial assembly. Forgot have to order some new gaskets for it too.

    066 cylinder scored, piston toast

This is as good as it gets. What is left is just pitting in the cylinder and some small scratches. Heating it made no difference. Before After Does it look good enough to try? Guess I have no choice.

    066 cylinder scored, piston toast

I'll try that today and see what happens. Definitely want to get it all out before I put a new piston in it. Thanks for the advise.
