    Turbosawmill Manual Warrior Swing Blade

Some of the earlier models had issues with the guide track flexing too much. I believe the manufacturer made some improvements but you better do your research. I have no first hand experience fwiw...just internet reading on some forums.

    Cork maintenance

Spinners happen but you can reduce them by using some anti-seize on the cork threads before installing. It's a bit of a pain but it actually helps to do this to brand new boot before using them in the woods. YMMV

Milling trees floating in the ocean!

It's doable but here's a couple things to consider: 1. will you be able to get the logs off the friends boat trailer without destroying rollers and bunks? 2. check with the State to see if there are any required permits. In SE Alaska you would need a beach salvage permit for logs below mean...

Anyone ever milled lap siding at home?

I packed the shake bolts out of the woods and brought them home so I could split the shakes whenever I had some spare time in the evenings. It was fun splitting them and figuring out how to get the best yield. I didn't brake any froes and I found that old bowling pins make great froe mallets.

Anyone ever milled lap siding at home?

Those are hand split red cedar shakes. I split log rounds into 24" bolts and then split the shakes out with a froe. The shakes are all quarter grain so they last a long time. There are a bunch of hemlock needles on the roof at the moment which gives it that red fuzzy look.

Anyone ever milled lap siding at home?

The bandsaw would certainly be more efficient from a material waste standpoint...I didn't have one available or the covered area to set one up. The large cants could get tough to manhandle through the bandsaw without a good infeed and outfeed set up. Sorta depends on how much siding you need I...

Anyone ever milled lap siding at home?

I did this some time ago (pre kids) when I had more time on my hands! I made a jig for the mill that you can see in the first picture, it's basically a piece of beveled siding with blocks screwed on to hold it between the mill rails. It actually works pretty slick and you can flip it around as...
