    Axe restoration thread

Here’s a few I picked up recently. I really like the BBB cruiser, I don’t run across many cruisers. The painted Norlund seems to be in great shape, I’ll know more once I strip it.

Why is it going, I’m no tree hugger but that’s an amazing tree.

    eBay 394

eBay is pretty simple, set your max bid if you don’t want to get sniped. Otherwise it’s the name of the game. Sniping goes on with the vast majority of popular items.

    Stihl 034AV Super Rebuild

What’s the range an 034 super sell for in Australia? I know prices can be pretty high for saws.

The post office charges me $51.75 to send package

I ship a lot of stuff via usps, never had a problem. The trick as stated is to pack the box tight enough that nothing moves inside. When a box is full it’s less prone to smashing from the outside and the contents pushing their way out from the inside. If you place a bar up against the box...

    Stihl 034AV Super Rebuild

i know you like to scrub saws, but I’m not sure why you’re wasting time and money replacing perfectly good parts.

    Bar for bucking hardwood

What kind of wood are you cutting? I was in Greece 10 years ago and loved every minute of it. I’d love to make the trip again.

    Stihl BR 550 Blower issue

There’s nothing to really come loose in the fan assembly. Decadbonizer can work wonders on these things. The valves are tiny and can get carboned up.

Can I keep these Leyland Cypress trees this close to the house?

Lol, before and after pics. Looks great, now you can see the nice house.

    Bar for bucking hardwood

Stihl es or light would both do the trick. The light bars cut the same just weigh less and balance better in longer bars. There’s also quite a few other makers that make nice bars.

Help me spend $1000 on freehand milling

I’d assume you’d want something in the 90cc range. I don’t know anything about freehand milling though. Seems like a heavy saw to get a cut accurately started. If you thought milling was for you but freehand didn’t get the desired results you could always buy a milling jig and at least have...

Help me spend $1000 on freehand milling

If you want to save it for lumber why done you just find someone with a portable bandsaw mill. Also, urban trees are known to contain objects that are not good for saw blades of any sort. Which is why most are turned into mulch.

Degroots Spire would also be a narrow thuja option

Upper Michigan (UP) two saw plan

If you’ve got a lot of bigger wood sizing up to a 90cc saw is a good idea, if it’s wood under 24 inches I’d run a combo 60 and 70cc saw. I’ve got a lot of saws and I use an ms361 and an ms460 for 95% of what I cut. The problem is the outlier big wood that these saws won’t cut efficiently. You...
