    Value question- older large stihl

The 088 was not made 20 years ago. Be sure and check the model number. It depends on alot of different things as far as value. It also depends on how bad you want it.

    MS 280__looking for advice

I cant really tell from the pictures but looking at what I do see, I see fresh clean plastic where the break is. If it had been like that from the start, it would be dirty in the break. I do agree with the comment on a hairline fracture. That is possible and should be covered if that is the...

please help.. stihl 038 av magnum list of parts...

The bar and chain your looking at is the 3/8 P. It is a 3/8 extended pitch chain and should not be used on the 038. On the 038, you will need the 33rsc or the 33rmc3 type chain or the regular 3/8 type chain. 16" will take 60 links. That little chain will snap and break with all the power the 038...

MS361 fractured crankcase... what to expect from Stihl?

I am not going to say operator error or design flaw. It is strang for this to happen though. If I were Stihl, with the technology that Stihl has, I would call for the first case half and now this case half and investigate. A good question to ask, are the serial numbers close together with each...

That 028 did not come with a guide plate if there is no screw hole for it. The press fit plates came out well after the 028 were discontinued.

    Stumped with my 056 Stihl

The compression concerns me a little. The bigger thought is, is the spark you have getting there at the right time? Why did you go back to points?

Advise needed on a new Stihl 290

The MS 290 is still in production and I would recomend staying with the .325 pitch chain. I think that the 3/8 pitch pulls to much power out of the MS 290.

    Stihl 028 guys need help

Some 028's had them and some did not. Some 028's had an adjustable oil pump and some did not. Look and see if yours does and if it is turned wide open. The adjuster will be on the bottom of the saw about in line with the crankshaft. If it has a screw, it only turns like a 1/4 turn. Make sure it...
