    Pioneer chainsaws

Well Jerry, that one will certainly require alot of time-money-and effort but if anyone can its you in this part of the World. Post pics as you go should you (and i know you will because of the sentimental value to the guy) do this one.

FYI parachute cord works as starter rope

Used many roles of that stuff in the field when i was in the Army, strong as H_ _ L. We used to get the older type take the centre stings out and make key chain type things that were pretty intricate,i still have one i made that is square in design i will try and locate it for a pic. Difference between 181 and 281/288 case

The 181 and the 288 will take the 54mm piston/cylinder. The big difference is the throttle lever that pokes through the case on the 181 the hole in the case is smaller so the 288 lever won't work wihout widening the hole abit, The intakes are the same as is all other parts are interchangeable...

    I scored a Pioneer 620.

I believe you have a 620 super, of course pictures would certainly help. For the Pioneer collector those are very desirable saws and a nice one for any collection as well. "Get pictures quick so i can drool on my monitor"!!

    Husky Carb, Upgrade or Not?

No problem. There were two jugs on ebay recently, and yes the jugs are interchangable on either case, the 181 original was a 52mm and the 288 a 54mm and both carbs will work on either jug and other than the roller versus the metal linkage i think they are the same carb. It would be good to see...

Been there, done that. Some of the gang here who bought from this guy in Greece said they actually got a Meteor piston, i guess it depends on the model of saw, all i get are the Espian ones as well but they seem ok, no problems yet.

    Husky Carb, Upgrade or Not?

Well i have put a 266SE carb on my 181SE the 288 carb is different where the throttle lever contacts the carb there is no metal lever the trigger/throttle mechanism on the 288 does not actually contact the carb at all until the trigger is depressed, i tried putting a 288 plastic lever on a 181...

What saws are truely worth collecting

Mall OMG, Stihl 064, Mac 125, any two-man saws and many, many more, i guess it depends mainly on what the person likes, old Mac's appeal to some as does Pioneer saws appeal to others. I personally like Pioneer saws mainly because thats what i started with but if you talk to other folks here i...

Husky 288XP value or approx: This one has brand new OEM piston kit and new oil seals. This saw runs great and is only missing the clutch cover/brake. This one does not have the decomp but i don't find t difficult to pull over and start at all. Reason is am asking values is i have a good chance...

    Zama Carb primer (Off topic)

Got any pics of the guts in this thing? Is there a rubber plug type piece in the centre under the bulb that has a hole in the centre? If so its removable to clean, sometimes i use a small wire from a wire brush to poke through small carb holes even after using cleaner.

    Zama Carb primer (Off topic)

Make sure your fuel lines are hooked up properly i've done the same thing before on a trimmer and the bulb would not prime the carb. I switch the lines around and it worked fine.
