    Chainsaw winch

That looked like a fairly new warn winch attached to an older cutoff saw, so I'd say that it is definitely DIY.

Bar Studs Stripped Out Of Case......How To Fix

I've always used these. http://www.ezlok.com/inserts-for-metal/solid-threaded-inserts There is another style that I have used and can't find right now. It has four stakes that are driven in after the insert is seated. The pins dig in and about the only way to remove the insert is to cut it out.

    Am i missing something?

You mean aside from the fact that they won't get enough, if any, lubrication? They'll also be packed with grease, which lowers the speed rating as compared to oil lube. You can use them, but you need to pull the seal on the inner side and wash the grease out/relube.

    OK I admit, I don't get it.

That's a 32" bar on the saw. If you think you can cut wood that size with anything resembling the same speed...using a tiny saw and narrow kerf chain....be my guest. :D That said, I suspect that we'll not be seeing any videos of professional fallers using MS170's.

110 AC/12 VDC power converter for 12 V chain sharpener

I would buy a 15 or 20 amp.....probably the 20. It doesn't add much to the price, but it does add some extra capacity in case that motor actually draws more than 8 amps. Also, since I can't find a surge rating for them and the ad lists them for LED lights(no surge capacity needed), a 20 amp...

    stump vice

I have one. I've also cut a stump to use as a vise and used a wedge to tighten it.

    OK I admit, I don't get it.

I've got running saws from 30cc up to 94cc. I ain't grabbin the 394xp to cut twigs, but it beats the hell out of anything smaller when you need it. I prefer having the right tool for the job. Your choice if you want to spend an hour doing a ten minute job, but I value my time. :)

    Echo CS330t--rebuild or not?

I know what molds cost.....first machining job was in a toolroom. Company did stamping and die casting. Most likely they remachined the existing cavities to remove the ridge. Ten minute job on a mill. It would take a it longer to do via EDM, but wouldn't require any secondary ops unlike milling.

    Echo CS330t--rebuild or not?

It's not 100% smooth, but that's from a defect in the mold and not a result of them trimming the ridge off. It looks like something was misaligned or didn't fill in properly.

110 AC/12 VDC power converter for 12 V chain sharpener

Maybe, maybe not. If Ray has the right specs, then I'd say it likely wouldn't even spin up on a 2 amp supply, and would probably burn the supply up. Electric motors typically need 2x to 3x as much amperage to start as they do when running. Something like this should work fine...

    Echo CS330t--rebuild or not?

All of the AV mounts on it are good. You'll have to remove them from the old handle to put them in the new one....that's how I know they're good, LOL. The A202000051 part number is only for the boot. Echo P021009003 (replaces A202000050), part #29 on the first gen IPL, is the boot and the...

    Echo CS330t--rebuild or not?

The replacement boot and handle came in today, and I happened to get off a little early. I tore the gray saw(first gen) apart and tried a pressure test. That didn't go so well, as it wouldn't pressurize at all. I figured out the reason as soon as I started to take the handle off. The boot was...

110 AC/12 VDC power converter for 12 V chain sharpener

Somewhere on it, it should list voltage and either amperage requirement or a wattage requirement. Usually when I answer a question like this, someone is trying to figure out how big a generator they need and it's simple to say that volts x amps = watts. In any case, you need a 12v power supply...

Porting, You get what you pay for

I ain't a porter and don't have a dog in this fight. I do work at one of those "local machine shops", and will offer my opinion as to the cost of cutting a jug. You will be paying $200+ to have the base and squish cut to whatever specifications you provide. We don't have a shelf full of mandrels...

    Echo CS330t--rebuild or not?

It comes with a replacement handle...which looks identical to the existing one. I guess something is different on the carb end of the boot. There isn't an option to buy just the boot for the first gen gray saw I have(not the orange one I was working on), nor is there in several of the newer...

    Echo CS330t--rebuild or not?

Did a little more digging on the intake boot thing. Apparently there is only one boot in use now. The $30 one I mentioned previously is actually a new boot, plus a new top handle.

Anyone got service manuals for the Echo CS-330T?

picked up a pair of CS-750EVLs...

I've got a 750 carcass out in the shop that needs a new home. I don't remember offhand how much is left of it.

    Echo CS330t--rebuild or not?

I hate stuffing boots back through, and that is definitely a "why didn't I think of that" suggestion. Thanks! Looked through the IPL's earlier and Echo used(still does, apparently) two different intake boots on the 330t. One is almost $30 and the other is just under $14. Since my saw is missing...

    Echo CS330t--rebuild or not?

Used....lol. You could say that. I picked it up(running) from a scrapyard for $5 or so. I haven't taken the boot off yet. I'll wait till I have a new one in hand.
