    The Beg for Manuals Thread

Poulan Coiunter Vibe 3700 Service Manual I need a service manual to repair an old Poulan Counter Vibe 3700. I need to replace the fuel line and to do this I need access to the carb. I don't know how to tear it down? So instead of making it a major project, pls send me a service manual or an...

"Tuning in the wood" -- define

Richer at these high altitudes is a safe setting for better torque in the wood.

General range of increase in HP from porting/muff mod

Timberwolf knows Ed and Big Dave who did the mod's on my two 361's, and they are raped apes in the wood. I've had both for several years; cut a lot of wood. And entered them in friendly GTG's and a couple of contest events. I use square chisel semi skip chain on both, cutting these hard...

Piston & Rings Needed for 026?

Brad its a 44 for an after market cylinder. I could get by with a set of after market rings. I say that, because I have a new set of Stihl rings and they are a hair too big for this piston, can't get them closed enough to push it back in the cylinder. Never had that problem before; even...

44 Brad, in an after market cylinder.

General range of increase in HP from porting/muff mod

As my signature shows, I have two 361's that have been ported by a couple of pro's, along with the muffler mods too. Then I have the 026 with my own muffler mod. In the case of my 026 muffler mod, it eliminated the 'jake brake' effect of a constricted muffler and I estimate about a 20%...

Piston & Rings Needed for 026?

Well I checked on my order today and found out the piston is on back order; they said they expect it in the warehouse next week. :chainsaw: At least they didn't say tomorrow, cause in West Texas tomorrow never comes.

Whats the one saw that you will never get rid of

I've got two 'modified' 361's done by a couple of 'pro's' -- they are superb saws for the woods and with a pipe in friendly competition. And I'll probably never part with either one. BUT, the one that will never leave me is a 'late model' 026. I say late model, cause it has the same carb and...

Piston & Rings Needed for 026?

I agree, nice guy. I've been out of the chainsaw business for a while and just got forced back in by some friends who had a dead saw. Thanks for all the replies; I've got it on order now.

Piston & Rings Needed for 026?

Thanks; I'm a Bailey's Customer, just didn't see it in Big Dog's catalog. I ordered it.

Need help with Stihl MS 361

If it increases in rpm and then dies; that is a 'lean' condition. This is exactly how all chainsaws perform when they run out of fuel. So its a fuel related issue; you just start with the fuel filter for dirt, the fuel hose for air leaks, and if you have an extra carb on hand, swap the carb...

Piston & Rings Needed for 026?

I live in a remote area; where is the best online source for a new piston and rings kit for an 026? Ebay? Ebay Store? Arborist Site Sponsor? I'm open to all ideas as I called an out of town dealer and his prices were astronomical; $44 bucks for a set of rings? Must have been reading the...

Does anyone else have a soft spot for a 026

Any time you turn a saw on its sides and it loses power, its almost always the 'seals'. If you have not replaced these on an 026, do a search here on AS for advice. You can do it if you know the steps and technique. And it can be done without special tools; I've done several without a hitch.

Does anyone else have a soft spot for a 026

I own three saws: 2 woods modified 361's and a muffler modified 026. I run an 18" bar and 3/8" square chisel chain on the 026 and it out performs any 260 Pro I've ever had. I buy saws on ebay, fix them up and sell them all the time; but, have never been tempted to sell this particular late...

    MS360 vs MS361?

I've owned the 036, 036 Pro, 360 and 360 Pro. They are great work saws with a muffler mod. I now own two modified and ported 361's, done by two of the best in the business (one has a pipe for fun events too). I've sold all of the older saws with muffler mods to friends of mine and they are...

    Saw chain dulling quick

+1 You must be cutting metal instead of wood to dull it in 10 sec max. I can't do it that quick by holding it down in the dirt and rocks at WOT. :buttkick:

    compression

I've had that problem with an 044 many times. It can jerk your arm off almost when that happens. I've discovered that if I very slowly pull the starter rope two or three times, that it eases up on compression and cranks normally. Saves you popping your elbow out.

    Opti-2 mix?

I use Mobil 2 Racing Oil and high test gas. I could run 100:1, but for every day use in the woods I run 50:1 and am happy with the performance of all saws. Plus, I like the extra lubrication as a safety factor for the long life of my saws. If I thought there was a significant difference in...

full comp 325 versus 375 test results

I've run both chains on my 026/260 saws; and, these saws will take a 20" bar. However, they like an 18" bar better if you have not modified the muffler. More than a 20" bar, even with a modified muffler, I would not recommend for these 026/260 saws. As a rule around here, the ones who run...
