    Guys how is this happening?

Is Dolmar allowing internet sales on Ebay? I'm not really against it as I know some are, just curious. I ran across THIS on Ebay and was just wondering.

    FYI - Northern Chainsaw Sharpener

Mine came double boxed. It seems they have had alot of shipping problems with these which I think is just being lazy or cheap. By the time they have to pay UPS twice, one would think they have lost anything they have saved. I guess I got lucky, nothing is broken or missing though I haven't...

    first saw you ever rebuilt

A Super XL was the first. Still use it. The next was a C-5 followed by a Pioneer Holliday. Still use those too. They all belonged to my grandfather, kinda like part of the family. That old SXL has seen many hard days and I honestly don't see how it still continues to operate right beside new...

    This cylinder is toast, right?

Boy you got that dry on aluminum part right. I left an old cylinder to soak in it for a day or two just to see how it worked and it came out about the size of a softball. I usually just soak my stuff in carb cleaner (dip style) or just sit it in the parts cleaner for a day or two.

    This cylinder is toast, right?

That is a good point PEST. I used acid on a old jug just to see how it worked and it eat the plating off. I never have used it on anything else.

using a dremel to sharpen chain?

I have done it also. If you can hand file, you can use this very well. Some come with the guide which is helpful but with Northern tool having that grinder for $100, it's hard to pass on that. Plus those grinding bits don't last very long and are quiet expensive.

    Canadian Homelite filters?

I have a couple of the C-series filters just like that but I don't remember where I got them. I have taken one out of an XL-12 before. They sure seem to hold up well.

    Homelite Chainsaw

Here is a pic of a C-52. Notice the handle. See how it bolts straight in? Your saw has a seperate leg or support. That makes me believe it is an XP because of that and the bar cover (which has the oil fill). What is messing me up is, the cylinder really looks like a C-Series...
