Is it legal to tie into a cranes loadline? Where to find the right information on it

Lancaster, let me think. Oh, the place where all the rolling equipment is pulled by horses. Now are you talking about the thing with ropes that lifts the hay up into the barn with the big wheel the horse walks in, or has some Dutchie rigged an A frame onto his wagon? Of course everybody...

Is it legal to tie into a cranes loadline? Where to find the right information on it

Gee, thanks. Does that entitle me to a free steak dinner for two that I'll need a chainsaw to cut? Will there be a nice wood mounted brass plaque? I can prop it up in the window of my climate controlled cab, maybe even use it for a cutting board for my cheese & cracker snack in the afternoon.

Is it legal to tie into a cranes loadline? Where to find the right information on it

Can you spell GROVE TMS 9000E? GROVE is a division of Manitouac. Fuel mileage sucketh! 89,972# according to the manufacturer, I've never bothered to weigh it though. BTW, you're right, I don't drive it, that's the oiler's job. He drives from the nontilting cab under the headblock...

Is it legal to tie into a cranes loadline? Where to find the right information on it

Gee, I'd love to talk. Thing is I operate a crane, and you call an oiler's truck with a loading boom a crane. Where shall we begin? My climate controlled cab tilts 20° at the touch of a button so I don't gt a stiff neck looking out to the end of 237 feet of boom. How far does that HIAB...

Oh, I thought you said crane. I didn't know Harbor Freight or is that Northern Hydraulics sold fishing poles that big.

Is it legal to tie into a cranes loadline? Where to find the right information on it

Would you consider the first license in 1979 recent? I've already got better than 30 years in the seat, started on a machine with 7 levers and 6 foot pedals with a lattice boom & jib. The house wasn't air conditioned either. Like I said there are plenty of machines for sale, you...

Is it legal to tie into a cranes loadline? Where to find the right information on it

HAD you done YOUR job correctly YOU wouldn't have been injured. Don't even claim the crane operator was any part of YOUR screwup. You're right, I am ignorant of many things. I wouldn't even attempt to operate a tower crane because I don't know the machine. I damn well wouldn't attempt to...

Is it legal to tie into a cranes loadline? Where to find the right information on it

As a person who holds a Crane License in NY State let me splain it to you from my point of view. My License, MY RULES backed by the machine owner's rules based on his insurance carrier's rules! If I can see the hook and you tie on the way it will play out is I lock the house, the boom and...

    My new hookeroons, homemade!

Old hook + cutoff wheel + Ramset pin + JB Weld = Good Hook

    My new hookeroons, homemade!

Looks like it's a bit quicker than forging a piece of coil spring and welding it to a tube or welding some leaf spring together like I been doing for years. I prefer a longer hook with a hook to the tip. Now if I could just find a pile of hatchet handles to work with.

Honestly, in 2012 brazing tanks is pretty much a fool's errand, especially for someone inexperienced. I've done a lot of things to many tanks, including launching 1 and balooning another, and given the epoxies available the last 10 years I don't any longer advocate any welding, brazing or...

Crane Wire Cable, can I go bigger than manufacturer recommendations?

There is a surplus cable company in Brooklin called McCarr or something close to that who will sell you both new & used cable almost cheaper than you can steal it. As long as the bearings in the sheaves are good, and the cable lays on bottom without deforming you should be good. Worst case...

Crane Wire Cable, can I go bigger than manufacturer recommendations?

1/2 to 9/16 will be a slight problem with the first lay on the drum if it's not a smooth drum. There may also be a problem indexing the end into the drum retainer. Boring the retainer is a big no no with insurers, and some may give you crap for oversizing the lifting line. As to the...

    Fabricating a new splitting wedge

There are so very many differences between Miller and Hofart machines above and beyond the plastic feed drive. Given ITW's 80/20 business model the machines may become closer relatives as time goes on. Dig into the archived Hofart weldtalk board around May 2005, there is extensive admission...

    Fabricating a new splitting wedge

Gee Gink, ya got me there. Walmart rejected my application because they cross checked it against their Security log and determined I had previously been asked to leave the store for sitting in a dressing room and hollering there was no toilet paper.

    Fabricating a new splitting wedge

For those not conversant with the welding industry, Gink has in his own words stated he holds a low level welding job in a large structural shop. The company he refuses to name has footed the bill to have Gink certified as competent in 2 production procedures. Gink has also proven his...

    Fabricating a new splitting wedge

Well Gink, I'll just eschew giving the pictures any further exposure. ""Blow me! I've been a AWS certified welder, show me some of your work jerk off!"" As to your request for homosexual gratification, I don't go that way, never have and ain't likely at my age to find your proposition...

    Fabricating a new splitting wedge

Sorry to learn of your complete lack of knowledge and skill in arc welding. Your advice of a fast freeze rod for this project alone tells me you have no business in a welding shop beyond sweeping the floor. That isn't an insult, it's a statement of fact!

Hobart Bros are fine machines, white Hobarts made by IndoChinaThugWorks are little better than Horrible freight! I have one sitting here and there is no way in hell you should need to tape the wire speed pot to hold the setting!!! ITW completely whored Hobart's name. I also have a 400 amp...
